ORDINANCE NO. 2964
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN
BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE
ANNEXATION OF 163 ACRES, MORE OR LESS, LOCATED NORTH OF
MASSEY TOMPKINS ROAD BETWEEN NORTH MAIN STREET AND THE
SUBDIVISIONS OF CHAPARRAL VILLAGE AND C. A. WRIGHT,
WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE
PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS.
WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council of
the City of Baytown, Texas, where all interested persons
were provided with an opportunity to be heard on the proposed
annexation of the following described property, to wit:
(See attached Exhibit "A ")
was held at 7:30 o'clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber of
the City Hall of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the 26th
day of August, 1980, which date is not more than twenty (20)
nor less than ten (10) days prior to the institution of
annexation proceedings; and
WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in
a newspaper having general circulation in the City of Baytown,
Texas, and in the above described territory on the 15th day
of August, 1980, which date is not more than twenty (20) nor
less than ten (10) days prior to the date of such public
hearing; and
WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Baytown,
Texas on the lst day of January, 1980, was 27.73 square
miles; and
WHEREAS, the population of the City of Baytown, Texas,
is approximately 57,334 inhabitants; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the
extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Baytown, Texas;
and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to
and adjoins the City of Baytown, Texas; NOW THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the following described land and
territory lying adjacent to and adjoining the City of Baytown,
Texas, is hereby added and annexed to the City of Baytown,
Texas, and the said territory hereinafter described shall
hereafter be included within the boundary limits of the City
of Baytown, Texas, and the present boundary limits of such
City, at the various points contiguous to the area here-
inafter described, are altered and amended so as to include
said area within the corporate limits of the City of Baytown,
Texas, to wit:

Section 2: The above described territory and the area
so annexed shall be a part of the City of Baytown, Texas,
and the property so added hereby shall bear its pro rata
part of the taxes levied by the City of Baytown, Texas, and
the inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the
rights and privileges of all the citizens and shall be bound
by the acts, ordinances, resolutions, and regulations of the
City of Baytown, Texas.
Section 3: This ordinance shall be published and
passed in the manner provided in Article 1, Section 9 of the
Charter of the City of Baytown, Texas.

ALL that certain lot, block, or tract of land situated in Harris County,
Texas in the J. W. Singleton Survey, Abstract No. 709 and being more fully
described as follows:
BEGIIN-NING at a point 200' North of Massey - Tompkins Road and 190' East of
North Main Street, an ell corner of the existing city limits of the City of
Baytown;
THENCE, North 000 34' 00" East along the existing city limit line a distance
of approximately 2,118.56' more or less to a point for a corner, said point
being 190' East of North Main Street;
THENCE, North 790 24' 09" East a distance of 2,517.03' more or less to a
point for a corner, said point being in the East boundary line of Barkuloo
Road, a 60' road;
THENCE, South 110 30' 48" East with the West line of Chaparral Village, Sec-
tion five and the East right -of -way line of Barkuloo Road a distance of 262'
more or less to a point for a corner, said point being the most westerly south
corner of Chaparral Village, Section Five;
THENCE, North 790 52" 12" East with the South line of Chaparral Village, Sec -
tion five a distance of 687.03' more or less to a point for a corner, said
point being situated in the West line of Chaparral Village, Section Three and
said line also being the city limits line of the City of Baytown;
THENCE, South 11° 34' 29" East with the West boundary line of Chaparral. Vil-
lage, Section Three a distance of 1,270' more or less to a point for a cor-
ner, said point being the southwest corner of Chaparral Village, Section
Three;
THENCE, North 800 19' 18" East along the South boundary line of Chaparral
Village, Section Three a distance of 274.84' more or less to a point for a
corner, said point also being the northwest corner of the C. A. Wright

said point being in the East boundary line of a five acre tract of land known

East boundary line of said Tract C -9 a distance of approximately 520' to a
