ORDINANCE NO. 2960
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN
ADDING CERTAIN PROPERTY TO COUNCIL DISTRICT NO. 6 ;
REPEALING ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH; CONTAINING
A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND
EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
WHEREAS, Section 17(1) of the Charter of the City of
Baytown provides that the City Council shall redistrict the
City if the growth of the City ,justifies; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to include the newly annexed
territory described herein in a Council District; NOW
THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN:
Section 1: Council District No. 6 is hereby redistricted
by the addition of certain property which is described as
follows:
Beginning at a point on the existing corporate limits of
the City of Baytown, Texas, said point being in the
North boundary line of Baker Road and being the Southwest
corner of a 10 acre tract of land known as the St. John
Catholic Church property;
THENCE, North 0 degrees 59 minutes 37 seconds West
along the West boundary line of said 10 acre tract; a
distance of 1,043.60 feet to a point for corner, said
point being the Northwest corner of the above mentioned
10 acre tract;
THENCE, North 89 degrees 48 minutes East along the
North boundary line of said 10 acre tract 442.50 feet
to a point for a corner, being the Northeast corner of
said 10 acre tract, said corner being situated on the
centerline of the 50 foot drainage ditch, being also
the West line of a 76.28 acre tract heretofore conveyed
by Wilburn Brothers to Goose Creek Consolidated Inde-
pendent School District, and said corner being located
on the existing corporate boundary of the City of
Baytown, Texas;
THENCE, North 0 degrees 89 minutes 37 seconds West
along the West property line of the Goose Creek Con-
solidated Independent School District property a
distance of approximately 1,682 feet to a point on the
South right -of --way line of Cedar Bayou - Lynchburg Road,
said point being in the existing corporate limits of
the City of Baytown, Texas, and being the Northwest
corner of said school property;

THENCE, in a Westerly direction along the South boundary
line of Cedar Bayou - Lynchburg Road a distance of approx-
imately 1,484.50 feet to a point located approximately
300 feet East of the centerline of Garth Road for a
corner, said point being located in the South boundary
line of Cedar Bayou - Lynchburg Road 252 feet South 77
degrees 15 minutes 30 seconds East from the point of
intersection of the South boundary line of Cedar Bayou -
Lynchburg Road and the East boundary line of Garth
Road;
THENCE, in a Northerly direction along a line 300 feet
East of and parallel to the centerline of Garth Road a
distance of approximately 10,068 feet to a point in the
North right -of -way of Interstate Highway No. 10, said
point being 300 feet East of the centerline of Garth
Road and 150 feet North 6 degrees 30 minutes 30 seconds
West of the centerline of Interstate Highway No. 10;
THENCE, South 79 degrees 44 minutes 30 seconds West
along the North right -of -way of Interstate Highway No.
10 crossing the centerline of Garth Road at 300 feet
and continuing on for a total distance of approximately
2,156.32 feet to a point for a corner, said point being
on the North right -of -way line of Interstate Highway
No. 10;
THENCE, in a Southerly direction crossing Interstate
Highway No. 10 a distance of 300 feet to a point in the
South right -of -way line of Interstate Highway No. 10,
said point being the Northwest corner of the tract of
land known as the San Jacinto Mall property;
THENCE, South 10 degrees 43 minutes 38 seconds East
with the West boundary line of said San Jacinto Mall
property 1,211.50 feet to a point for a corner;
THENCE, South 79 degrees 40 minutes 53 seconds West
along a North line of the San Jacinto Mall tract 548.23
feet to a point for corner;
THENCE, South 10 degrees 43 minutes 38 seconds East
1,211.03 feet to a point for corner, said point being
the Southwest corner of said Mall tract;
THENCE, North 79 degrees 37 minutes 14 seconds East
along the South line of said Mall tract 1,292.10 feet
to a point;
THENCE, South 08 degrees 00 minutes 23 seconds East
16.17 feet to a point;
THENCE, North 79 degrees 53 minutes 11 seconds East
along the South line of said Mall tract 635.52 feet to
a point for corner; said point being 300 feet West of
the centerline of Garth Road;
THENCE, in a Southerly direction along a line 300 feet
West of and parallel to the centerline of Garth Road a
distance of approximately 10,121 feet to a point in the
North boundary line of Baker Road, said point being 300
feet West of the centerline of Garth Road and said
point being in the existing corporate limits of the
City of Baytown, Texas;

THENCE, in an Easterly direction along the North boundary
line of Baker Road approximately 1,673.50 feet to the
point of beginning. (San Jacinto Mall property)
Section 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances
inconsistent with the terms of this ordinance are hereby
repealed; provided, however, that such repeal shall be only
to the extent of such inconsistency and in all other respects
this ordinance shall be cumulative of other ordinances
regulating and governing the subject matter covered by this
ordinance.
Section 3: If any provision, section exception, subsection,
paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance or
the application of same to any person or set of circumstances,
shall for any reason be held unconstitutional, void or
invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the validity of
the remaining provisions of this ordinance or their appli-
cation to other persons or sets of circumstances and to this
end all provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.
Section 4: This ordinance shall take effect from and
after its passage and the City Clerk is hereby directed to
publish the caption of this ordinance at least once in the
official newspaper of the City of Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ, and PASSED by the affirmative vote of
