ORDINANCE NO. 2906
AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING CERTAIN USES OF WATER FROM THE
CITY WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM NOT ESSENTIAL TO THE PUBLIC
WELL- BEING; AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO TERMINATE WATER
SERVICE FOR VIOLATION; AND DECLARING THE PRESENCE OF AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the City of Baytown
because of the disrepair of a service well; and
WHEREAS, the water pressure in the City is at a dangerously
low level; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to the public well -being that
certain uses of water, not essential to the health, welfare,
and safety of the City be restricted; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the use and withdrawal of water for
the City water supply system by any person for the purpose
of sprinkling, watering, or irrigating of shrubbery, trees,
lawns, grass ground covers, plants except those in vegetable
gardens, vines, or flowers is prohibited.
Section 2: The Mayor shall have the authority to
enforce the provisions of this ordinance by the discontinuance
of water service in the event of violation hereof.
Section 3: This ordinance shall be in force and effect
until amended or repealed by the mayor or until repealed by
the Council of the City of Baytown.
Section 4: This ordinance is passed as an emergency
measure, and the Council does hereby declare that an emergency
exists which makes it imperative that this ordinance shall
become effective forthwith.
INTRODUCED, READ, and PASSED by the affirmative vote of
a majority of the City Council of the City of Baytown on
this 3rd day of June, 1980.
