ORDINANCE NO. 2900
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, "ADMINISTRATION," OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN TO
RESTRUCTURE MEMBERSHIP OF THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN:
Section 1: That Chapter 2, "Administration," of the
Code of Ordinances of the City of Baytown is hereby amended
by the repeal of Sec. 2 -59, Community Development Advisory
Committee -- Creation, Membership, Appointment; as presently
constituted and by the adoption of a new Sec. 2 -59 that
shall read as follows:
Sec. 2 -59. Community development advisory committee -- creation,
membership, appointment.
(1) There is hereby created a community development advisory
committee, hereafter referred to as the committee, which
shall consist of nine (9) members. The members of this
board shall be residents of the city and shall be appointed
by city council.
(2) The committee shall consist of at least six (6) low to
moderate income residents of the city (as defined by the
Department of Housing and Urban Development). Minority
groups will at least be represented in proportion to such
city -wide percentage representation. The committee shall
consist of at least one (1) member from each of the six (6)
council districts.
(3) Of the original nine (9) members, three (3) shall be
appointed for three (3) years, three (3) shall be appointed
for two (2) years, and three (3) shall be appointed for one
(1) year. Thereafter, all appointments shall be for three
(3) year terms. A term of office shall commence on January
1 of the initial year of appointment.
(4) The committee may establish its own rules as to the
attendance of its members to its meetings and, in furtherance
of such, the committee may, by a majority vote, expel any
member who, in the opinion of the committee, misses an
unreasonable number of meetings. All members shall be
subject to removal by the council for cause.
Section 2: This ordinance shall take effect immediately
from and after its passage.
