Ordinance No. 2,85100313 -6 ORDINANCE NO. 2851 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXPEND EIGHT THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED SIXTEEN AND 60/100 ($8,616.60) DOLLARS AS THE CITY'S COST OF INTERVENTION BEFORE THE TEXAS PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION REGARDING GENERAL TELEPHONE COMPANY'S REQUEST FOR RATE INCREASE AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. WHEREAS, General Telephone Company has filed an application with the Public Utility Commission of Texas requesting a general rate increase; and WHEREAS, the City Council has decided that the City of Baytown should intervene in the Commission's rate hearings; and WHEREAS, the City Council feels it would be advantageous to present a consolidated rate case with other cities partic- ipating through the Texas Municipal League; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown, Texas, is hereby authorized and directed to expend Eight Thousand Six Hundred Sixteen and 60/100 ($8,616.60) Dollars to the Texas Municipal League General Telephone Rate Case Trust Fund to participate with other cities in a joint study of General Telephone's rate increase request. Section 2: That the Texas Municipal League is authorized on behalf of the City to obtain all information necessary and pertinent to General Telephone's rate proposal and to conduct investigations, present evidence, advise, and represent the City before the Public Utility Commission.
