ORDINANCE NO. 2811
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, AMENDING THE BUDGET OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN FOR
THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 1979, AND ENDING
SEPTEMBER 30, 1980, BY ABOLISHING THE POSITION CLASSIFIED
AS IDENTIFICATION TECHNICIAN AND BY ADDING A PATROL
OFFICER; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS RELATED THERETO; AND
PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
WHEREAS, the Baytown Civil Service Commission has
recommended to City Council that the position classified as
identification technician be abolished; and
WHEREAS, the identification technician's job is a
technical position that requires a basic knowledge of photography
and fingerprinting that can be learned with minimum training;
and
WHEREAS, the duties of the job of identifician technician
can be assigned to other patrol officers; and
WHEREAS, the identification technician's job requires
no supervisory skills; and
WHEREAS, the abolishment of the position classified as
identification technician and assignment of those duties to
other officers would assist the orderly, efficient operation
of the police department by enhancing the flexibility of
departmental scheduling and reliability of identification
services; and
WHEREAS, the position classified as identification
technician is not necessary; and
WHEREAS, the position classified as identification
technician will be vacated on March 1, 1980, by the retirement
of Officer C. T. Freeman; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN:
Section 1: The budget of the City of Baytown for the
fiscal year October 1, 1979, to September 30, 1980, as
adopted by Ordinance No. 2736, is hereby amended as follows:

Delete from Account No. 201 -1 -2
Identification Technician, Salary range:
$1,295 -1,055 $12,019.00
Section 2: The budget of the City of Baytown for the
fiscal year October 1, 1979, to September 30, 1980, is
further amended as follows:
Add to Account No. 201 --1 -2
A patrol officer, salary range:
$1,158- 1,480 $8,585.00
Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect from and
after its passage.
