ORDINANCE NO. 2690
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 11, "ELECTRICAL CODE ", OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN TO RE-
STRUCTURE MEMBERSH1 -P OF THE ELECTRICAL BOARD.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE _CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTO`UN
Section 1: That Chapter 11, "Electrical Code ", of the
Code of Ordinances of the City of Baytown is hereby amended
the repeal of Section 11_- 1,,_rlembership; Appointment, as
presently constituted and by the adoption of a new Section.
11 -1 that shall read as follows:
Sec. 11 -1. Membership.
(a) There is hereby created an electrical board, that
shall consist of five (5) members. The members of this
board shall be residents of the.city and shall be appointed
by the city council. At no'time during this activity of
this board shall any two members be a representative of the
same firm or organization. The five (5) positions shall be
as follows:
Position No. 1: An electrical engineer presently employed
by the city's public utility company.
Position No. 2: An electrical contractor.
Position No. 3: A journeyman electrician.
Position No. 4: A master sign electrician or master
electrician.
Position No. 5: A citizen not in the building industry.
(b) All members of the electrical board shall serve.for a
period of two (2) years. A term of office shall coincide
with two (2) calendar years. Position Nos. 1, 2, and 3
shall be appointed effective January 1st in each even-
numbered year, and position Nos. 4 and 5 shall be appointed
effective January 1st in each odd- numbered year. If an
interim vacancy shall occur, a successor shall be appointed
for the remainder of such term. All members shall serve
without compensation, and shall be subject to removal at the
will of the city council.
Section 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances
inconsistent with the terms of this ordinance are hereby
repealed; provided, however, that such repeal shall be only
to the extent of such inconsistency and in all other respects
this ordinance shall be cumulative of other ordinances
• regulating.and governing the subject matter covered by this
ordinance.

Section 3 If any provision, section, exception, sub-
section, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this
ordinance or the application of same to any person or set of
circumstances, shall for any reason be held unconstitutional,
void or invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the valid -
ity.of the remaining provisions of this ordinance or their,
application to other persons or sets of circumstances and to
this end all provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.
Section 4: This ordinance shall take effect from and
after its passage.
