ORDINANCE NO. 2637
AN ORDINANCE LOWERING THE PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT FOR
MOTOR VEHICLES ON A PORTION OF LYNCHBURG ROAD; PRE-
SCRIBING A MAXIMUM PENALTY OF TWO HUNDRED AND NO1100
($200.00) DOLLARS; AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION
AND EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN:
Section 1: That the prima facie maximum speed limit
with respect to Lynchburg Road, from Market Street to the
east right -of -way line of the Loop 201 access road, is
altered to 30 miles per hour; and City Council hereby determines
and declares this prima facie speed limit to be reasonable
and prudent.
Section 2: The Director of Planning is hereby authorized
and directed to cause the proper signs to be posted at the
above described location.
Section 3: It shall be unlawful for a driver of a
vehicle to disobey the instructions of the signs placed in
accordance with the provisions of this ordinance, unless at
the time otherwise directed by a police officer.
Section 4: Any person violating the provisions of this
ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than Two
Hundred and No /100 ($200.00) Dollars, and each violation
shall constitute a separate offense.
Section 5: This ordinance shall take effect from and
after ten (10) days after its passage by the City Council.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to give notice hereof by
causing the caption of this ordinance to be published in the
official newspaper of the City of Baytown at least twice
within ten (10) days after the passage of this ordinance.
