Ordinance No. 2,521W ORDINANCE NO. 2521 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN EXEMPTING THE RESIDENTIAL USE OF GAS AND ELECTRICITY FROM THE ONE PER CENT (1 %) CITY SALES TAX. WHEREAS, the 65th Legislature, 1st Called Session, has enacted legislation exempting residential use of gas and electricity from the four per cent (4%) State Sales Tax and providing a local option on the one per cent (lo) City Sales Tax; and WHEREAS, the City Council, as governing body of the City of Baytown, desires to exempt family dwellings, multi- family apartments, housing complexes or buildings or portions of buildings occupied as a home or residence from the one per cent (1%) City Sales Tax in order to provide relief for its citizens; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN: Section 1: Residential use of gas and electricity be exempted from the one per cent (1%) City Sales Tax effective October 1, 1978. Section 2: The City Clerk is hereby directed to send a certified copy of this ordinance by registered or certified mail to: Warrant Control Section, Revenue Processing Division, P. 0. Box 13528, Austin, Texas 78711, together with the address of utilities serving the City. Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage.
