AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR THE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS
AT CERTAIN LOCATIONS; PRESCRIBING A MAXIMUM PENALTY OF
TWO HUNDRED AND NO 1100 ($200.00) DOLLARS; AND PROVIDING
FOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
WHEREAS, Article 6701d, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes,
provides that local authorities in their respective jurisdiction
may place and maintain any traffic control device upon any
highway under their jurisdiction as they may deem necessary,
taking into consideration the usual traffic flow of the
streets or highways within their jurisdiction. Said governing
body may determine that various local traffic control devices
are necessary, and shall direct said appropriate devices be
erected, by the passage of an ordinance, which shall be
effective when appropriate signs giving notice thereof are
erected at such intersection or other place or part of the
street or highway; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: On the basis of an engineering and traffic
investigation heretofore made as authorized by the provisions
of Article 6701d, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, traffic
signals shall be installed at the following intersections,
to -wit:
Park Street /North Main Street
Baker Road /North Main Street
Bob Smith Road /North Main Street
North Pruett Street /West Sterling Avenue
North Pruett Street /West Defee Avenue
North Commerce Street /West Sterling Avenue
North Commerce Street /West Defee Avenue
Airhart Drive /Market Street
Section 2: The Director of Planning and Traffic is
hereby authorized and directed to cause the above referred
to traffic signals to be installed.

Section 3: It shall be unlawful for a driver of a
vehicle to disobey the signals installed in accordance with
the provisions of this ordinance, unless at the time other-
wise directed by a police officer.
Section 4: Any person violating the provisions of this
ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than Two
Hundred ($200.00) Dollars and each violation shall consti-
tute a separate offense.
Section 5: Effective Date: This ordinance shall take
effect from and after ten (10) days after its passage by the
City Council. The City Clerk is hereby directed to give
notice hereof by causing the caption of this ordinance to be
published in the official newspaper of the City of Baytown
at least twice within ten (10) days after its passage.
INTRODUCED, READ, and PASSED by the affirmative vote of
the City Council of the City of Baytown on this 27th day
