ORDINANCE NO. 2373
AN ORDINANCE SETTING A DATE, TIME AND PLACE FOR A
PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN
PROPERTY BY THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS; AUTHORIZING AND
DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO PUBLISH NOTICE OF SUCH
PUBLIC HEARING AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE
THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN:
Section 1: On the 8th day of December, 1977, at 7:00
o'clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall of
the City of Baytown, Texas, the City Council will hold a
public hearing giving all interested parties the right to
appear and be heard on the proposed annexation by the City
of Baytown, Texas, of the following described property, to-
wit.
Field note description of a 13.9348 acre tract of land out
of a part of that certain 15.5055 acre tract of land in the
CHRISTIAN SMITH Survey conveyed to C. J. Bailey, Jr., Trustee,
by deed described in an instrument recorded at County Clerk's
Film Code No. 176 -01 -0178, Harris County Deed Records, said
tract of land described as follows;
COMMENCING at a All iron rod in concrete at the Southeast
corner aforesaid C. J. Bailey, Jr., Trustee, 15.5055 acre tract,
said commencing corner situated at the North right -of -way
line of Massey Tompkins Road and also situated South 81
degrees 26 minutes 58 seconds West a distance of 989.87 feet
from the point of intersection of the North right -of -way
line of Massey Tompkins Road with the West right -of -way line
of Racoon Drive;
THENCE, North 09 degrees 30 minutes West along the East
line aforesaid 15.5055 acre tract a distance of 200.03
feet to a point at the existing city limits of Baytown,
Harris County, Texas, being the Southeast corner and
"POINT OF BEGINNING" of herein described tract;
THENCE, North 09 degrees 30 minutes West along the East
line aforesaid 15.5055 acre tract and the East line of
herein described tract a distance of 1,611.47 feet to a
1" iron pipe for corner at the Southerly line of a
called 30.456 acre tract, said 1" iron pipe being the
Northeast corner aforesaid 15.5055 acre tract and the
Northeast corner herein described tract;

THENCE, in a Northwesterly direction along the Southerly
line of said 30.456 acre tract, the Northerly line
aforesaid 15.5055 acre tract and the Northerly line of
tract described, said line being a well marked line
through the woods; North 51 degrees 32 minutes 26
seconds West a distance of 6.37 feet to a 1" pipe at an
angle point of said line; North 55 degrees 32 minutes
06 seconds West a distance of 199.84 feet to a 1A" pipe
at an angle point on said line; North 54 degrees 34
minutes 32 seconds West a distance of 57.11 feet to a
P iron rod found at an angle point on said line; North
48 degrees 21 minutes 28 seconds West a distance of
129.68 feet to a 1" iron pipe at the most Northerly
Northwest corner aforesaid 15.5055 acre tract and the
most Northerly Northwest corner of tract described;
THENCE, South 76 degrees 49 minutes 25 seconds West at
18.12 feet past a z" iron rod found at a fence corner
intersection, continuing along same line in all a total
distance of 72.32 feet to a 1?" pipe at the most Westerly
Northwest corner aforesaid 15.5055 acre tract and the
most Westerly Northwest corner of tract described;
THENCE, South 09 degrees 30 minutes East along the West
line aforesaid 15.5055 acre tract and the West line of
herein described tract, a distance of 1885.94 feet to
the point of intersection of said line with the existing
city limits of Baytown, Harris County, Texas; said
point being the Southwest corner of herein described
tract and further described as being North 09 degrees
30 minutes West a distance of 200.03 feet from a 1I" pipe at
the Southwest corner aforesaid 15.5055 acre tract at
the North right -of -way line of Massey Tompkins Road;
THENCE, North 81 degrees 26 minutes 58 seconds East
over and across aforesaid 15.5055 acre tract and along
the existing city limits of Baytown, Harris County,
Texas, same line being the South line of tract described
and being parallel to the North right -of -way line of
Massey Tompkins Road, a distance of 342.11 feet to the
"PLACE OF BEGINNING ", enclosing within the boundary
lines of tract described, 13.9348 acres of land.

Section 2: The City Clerk of the City of Baytown is
hereby authorized and directed to cause notice of such
public hearing to be published once in a newspaper having
general circulation in the city and in the above described
territory not more than twenty (20) days nor less than ten
(10) days prior to the date of such public hearing, all in
accordance with the Municipal Annexation Act (Chapter 160,
Acts of the 58th Legislature, Regular Session, 1963; compiled
as 970a, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, as amended).

Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect from and
after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of
the City Council of the City of Baytown on this 22nd day
of November 1977•
