ORDINANCE NO. 2258
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN
BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE
ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY, WHICH SAID TERRITORY
LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS.
WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council of
the City of Baytown, Texas, where all interested persons
were provided with an opportunity to be heard on the proposed
annexation of the following described property, to -wit:
Beginning at a point on the mean high tide line of the North
bank of Cedar Bayou, said point being located on the existing
city limit line of Baytown, Texas, established by City
Ordinance No. 407 -A, 04- 12 -57, and having South Texas Plan
coordinates X= 3,292,059+ and Y= 720,158 +.
THENCE, from the Point of Beginning, South 120 10' 50"
East, 1459+ to a point for corner;
THENCE, North 770 49' 10" East, 2403+ to a point for
corner;
THENCE, South 120 10' 50" East, 500+ to a point for the
most Southeasterly corner;
THENCE South 770 49' 10 1'+ West, 3635+ to a point on the
mean high tide line of the West bank of Cedar Bayou;
THENCE, Northerly and Easterly with the mean high tide
of the Northwest and West bank of Cedar Bayou, with its
meanders, to the point of intersection with the place
of beginning. (Houston Lighting & Power Company)
was held at 7:00 o'clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber of
the City Hall of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the 23rd day
of June, 1977, which date is not more than twenty (20) nor
less than ten (10) days prior to the institution of annexation
proceedings; and
WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in
a newspaper having general circulation in the City of Baytown,
Texas, and in the above described territory on the 12th day

WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Baytown,
Texas, on the 1st day of January, 1977, was 17,449 acres;
and
WHEREAS, the population of the City of Baytown, Texas,
is approximately 50,423 inhabitants; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the
extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Baytown, Texas;
and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to
and adjoins the City of Baytown, Texas; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the following described land and
territory lying adjacent to and adjoining the City of Baytown,
Texas, is hereby added and annexed to the City of Baytown,
Texas, and the said territory hereinafter described shall
hereafter be included within the boundary limits of the
City of Baytown, Texas, and the present boundary limits of
such City, at the various points contiguous to the area
hereinafter described, are altered and amended so as to
include said area within the corporate limits of the City of
Baytown, Texas, to -wit:
Beginning at a point on the mean high tide line of the North
bank of Cedar Bayou, said point being located on the existing
city limit line of Baytown, Texas, established by City
Ordinance No. 407 -A, 04- 12 -57, and having South Texas Plan
coordinates X= 3,292,059+ and Y= 720,158 +.

corner;
THENCE, South 120 10' 50" East, 500+ to a point for the

mean high tide line of the West bank of Cedar Bayou;
THENCE, Northerly and Easterly with the mean high tide
of the Northwest and West bank of Cedar Bayou, with its
meanders, to the point of intersection with the place

Section 2: The above described territory and the area so
annexed shall be a part of the City of Baytown, Texas, and
the property so added hereby shall bear its pro rata part of
the taxes levied by the City of Baytown, Texas, and the
inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights
and privileges of all the citizens and shall be bound by the
acts, ordinances, resolutions, and regulations of the City
of Baytown, Texas.
Section 3: This ordinance shall be published and
passed in the manner provided in Article 1, Section 9 of the
Charter of the City of Baytown, Texas.
