AN ORDINANCEAMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS,BYTHE AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 2—
ADMINISTRATION,ARTICLE I,BY THE ADDITION OF A SECTION
2-5,REPEALING ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH AND
PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OFTHE CITY OF
BAYTOWN,TEXAS:
Section 1:That the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Baytown,Texas,is hereby amended by amending Chapter 2—
Administration,Article I,by the addition of a Section 2-5,
which shall read as follows,to wit:
Section 2-5.Deputy City Clerk.
The City Clerk of the City of Baytown may appoint
one or more deputies to assist in the performance of
the duties of the office,and may require such bond
from the person so appointed as are deemed necessary
for indemnity.The deputies appointed in accordance
with provisions of this ordinance may do and perform
all the duties imposed and required of the City Clerk
by the Charter or Code of Ordinances of the City of
Baytown.All acts of such deputy or deputies done in
conformity with the law shall beas binding and valid
as if done by the City Clerk in person.
Section 2:Repealing Clause:All ordinances or parts
of ordinances inconsistent with the terms of this ordinance
are hereby repealed;provided,however,that such repeal
shall be only to the extent of such inconsistency and in all
other respects this ordinance shall be cumulative of other
ordinances regulating and governing the subject matter
covered by this ordinance.
Section 3:Savings Clause:If any provision,section,
exception,subsection,paragraph,sentence,clause or phrase
of this ordinance or the application of same to any person
or set of circumstances,shall for any reason beheld
unconstitutional,void or invalid,such invalidity shall not
affect the validity of the remaining provisions of this
ordinance or their application to other persons or sets of
circumstances and to this end all provisions of this ordinance
are declared tobe severable.
Section 4:Effective Date:This ordinance shall take
effect from and after its passage by the City Council.
