ORDINANCE NO.1936
AN ORDINANCE OF THECITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OFBAYTOWN,
TEXAS,PROVIDING FOR THE REMOVAL OF STOP SIGNS AT
CERTAIN INTERSECTIONS AND THE POSTING OF STOP SIGNS AT
CERTAIN INTERSECTIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS
OF CHAPTER 18,"MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC,"SECTION
18-117,THROUGH STREETS;REPEALING ORDINANCES INCON
SISTENT HEREWITH;CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE;PRESCRIB
ING A MAXIMUMPENALTY OF TWO HUNDRED ($200.00)DOLLARS
FOR EACH VIOLATION;AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION
AND EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1:Pursuant to the provisions of Section 18-117
of the Code of Ordinances,the following described inter
sections are declared to bestop intersections:
Nazro Street at its intersection with Oak Street
Section 2:The Chief of Police is authorized and
directed to cause the proper signs to be posted at the above
described locations.
Section 3:Pursuant to the provisions of Section 18-117
of the Code of Ordinances,the following described intersections
will no longer be stop intersections:
Oak Street at its intersection with Nazro Street
Section 4:The Chief of Police is authorized and
directed to cause the removal of stopsigns at the inter
sections listed in Section 3 above.
Section 5:Repealing Clause:All ordinances or parts
of ordinances inconsistent with the terms of this ordinance
are hereby repealed;provided,however,that such repeal
shall be only to the extent of such inconsistency and in all
other respects this ordinance shall be cumulative of other
ordinances regulating and governing thesubject matter
covered by this ordinance.

Section 6:Savings Clause:If any provision,section,
exception,subsection,paragraph,sentence,clause or phrase
of this ordinance or the application of same to any person
or set of circumstances,shall for any reason be held
unconstitutional,void orinvalid,such invalidity shall not
affect the validity of the remaining provisions of this
ordinance or their application to other persons or sets of
circumstances and to this end all provisions of thisordi
nance are declared to be severable.
Section 7:Penalty Clause:Any person who shall
violate any provision of this ordinance shall be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished
by a fine of not less than Ten ($10.00)Dollars,nor more
than Two Hundred ($200.00)Dollars.Each day of the con
tinuance of such violation shall be considered a separate
offense and each andevery day shall constitute a separate
violation.
Section 8:Effective Date:This ordinance shall take
effect from and after ten (10)days from its passage by the
City Council.The City Clerk is hereby directed to give
notice hereof by causing the caption of this ordinance to be
published in the official newspaper of the City of Baytown
at least twice within ten days after the passage of this
ordinance.
