ORDINANCE NO.1895
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS DURING CONSTRUCTION
ON A PORTION OF BAYWAY DRIVE AND SPUR 330 WITHIN THE COR
PORATELIMITS OF BAYTOWN;PROVIDING A PENALTY FORTHE
VIOLATION THEREOF;AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND
EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
WHEREAS,theState Department of Highways and Public Trans
portation has made it known to the City of Baytown that operations
will begin in the near future to improve Bayway Drive by doing
grading,storm sewers,cement stabilized base,and A.C.P.surfacing;
and,
WHEREAS,in the interest of safety,it is desirable to maintain
a construction speed zone during the construction period;NOW
THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BYTHE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITYOF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1:That a construction speed zone be established
along Bayway Drive from Spur 330 to Crow Road,a distance of
approximately 2.145 miles,35 MPHwhen so signed within said zone,
and along Spur 330 from a point 528 feet north of Bayway Drive
to a point 528 feet south of Bayway Drive,a distance of approx
imately 0.200 mile,40 MPH when so signed within said zone.
Section 2:Necessary signs for posting the speed zone will
be furnished,installed,and maintained by direction of the State
Department of Highways and Public Transportation engineer in
charge of the project.
Section 3:It shall be unlawful for a driver of a vehicle
to disobey the instructions of the signs placed in accordance
with the provisions of this ordinance,unless at the time other
wise directed by a police officer.

Section 4:Any person violating the provisions of this
ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than Two
Hundred ($200.00)Dollars,and each violation shall constitute
a separate offense.
Section 5:This ordinance shall take effect from and after
ten (10)days after its passage by the City Council.The City
Clerk is hereby directed to give notice hereof by causing the
caption of this ordinance to be published in the official news
paper of the City of Baytown at least twice within ten (10)
daysafter the passage of this ordinance.
