Ordinance No. 1,8886215 ORDINANCE NO.1888 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OFTHECITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS,PROVIDING FOR THE POSTING OF A STOPSIGN ON NORTH JONES STREET AT WILLIAM AVENUE AND THE REMOVAL OF THE STOP SIGN ON WILLIAM AVENUE AT NORTHJONES STREET IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 18,"MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC,"SECTION 18-117,STOP INTER SECTIONS OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES;PRESCRIBING A MAXIMUM PENALTY OF TWO HUNDRED AND NO/100 ($200.00) DOLLARS FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF;AND PROVIDINGFOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THECITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS: Section 1:That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas,pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 18,"Motor Vehicles and Traffic,"Section 18-117,Stop Intersections of the Code of Ordinances,does declare the followingdescribed intersection to be a stop intersection,towit: NORTH JONES STREET AT WILLIAM AVENUE Section 2:The Chief of Police is authorized and directed to cause the proper signs to be posted at the above described location. Section 3:And further,the CityCouncil of the City of Baytown,Texas,pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 18, "Motor Vehicles and Traffic,"Section 18-117,Stop Intersections ofthe Code of Ordinances,does declare that the following described intersection will no longer be a stop intersection, towit: WILLIAM AVENUE AT NORTH JONES STREET Section 4:The Chief of Police is authorized and directed to cause the removal of the stop sign at the above described location. 6216 Section 5:It shall be unlawful for a driver of a vehicle to disobey the instructions of the signs posted in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance,unless at the time otherwise directed by a police officer. Section 6:Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than Two Hundred ($200.00)Dollars,and each violation shall constitute a separate offense. Section 7:This ordinance shall take effect from and after ten (10)days after its passage by the City Council. The City Clerk is hereby directed to give notice hereof by causing the caption of this ordinance to be published in the official newspaper of the City of Baytown at least twice within ten (10)daysafter the passage of this ordinance.
