AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS,PROVIDING FOR THE REMOVAL OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT
CERTAIN INTERSECTIONS AND THE POSTING OF STOP SIGNS AT
SAID INTERSECTIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF
CHAPTER 18,"MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC,"SECTION 18-117
STOP INTERSECTIONS,PRESCRIBING A MAXIMUM PENALTY OF
TWO HUNDRED AND NO/100 ($200.00)DOLLARS FOR THE VIOLATION
THEREOF;AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE
DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OFTHE CITY OF
BAYTOWN,TEXAS:
Section 1:That the City Council of the City of Baytown
hereby authorizes the removal of traffic signals at the following
locations,to wit:
South Pruett Street at West Gulf Avenue
North Gaillard Street at West Defee Avenue
South Main Street at Gulf Avenue
Lee High School Parking Lot at Market Street
Section 2:That the City Council of the City of Baytown,
Texas,in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 18,"Motor
Vehicles and Traffic,"Section 18-117,Stop Intersections,does
declare the followingdescribed intersections to be stop in
tersections,to wit:
South Pruett Street and West Gulf Avenue (Four Way)
North Gaillard Street at West Defee Avenue
Gulf Avenue at South Main Street
Lee High School Parking Lot at Market Street
Section 3:The Chief of Police shall cause the proper signs
to be posted at the above described locations.
Section 4:If shall be unlawful for a driver ofa vehicle
to disobey the instructions of the signs placed in accordance
with the provisions of this ordinance,unless at thetimeother
wise directed by a police officer.
Section 5:Any person violating the provisions of this
ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than Two
Hundred ($200)Dollars,and each violation shall constitute a
separate offense.
Section 6:This ordinance shall take effect from and after
ten (10)days after its passage by the City Council.The City
Clerk is hereby directed to give notice hereof by causing the
caption of this ordinance to be published in the official news
paper of the City of Baytown at least twice within ten (10)
days after the passage of this ordinance.
