AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS,DECLARING THAT AN EMERGENCYSITUATION EXISTS;AU
THORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AND ATTEST
TO A CONTRACT WITH SINGER—LAYNE TEXAS FOR THE EMERGENCY
RE-EQUIPING OF WATER WELL 3A ON A UNIT PRICE BASIS,ELEVEN
THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED SIXTY AND NO/100 ($11,860.00)DOLLARS
FOR A FLOW-WAY DEEP WELL TURBINE PUMP,COLUMN,SHAFT AND
HEAD WITH LABOR AND MACHINERY TOBE PAID FOR ON ANHOURLY
BASIS CONSISTENT WITH THE SINGER-LAYNE1S CURRENT PUBLISHED
RATES;THE TOTAL COSTS TO BE APPROXIMATELY FIFTEEN THOUSAND
AND NO/100 ($15,000.00)DOLLARS AND PROVIDING FOR THE EF
FECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
WHEREAS,Water Well 3A is presently in a state of
disrepair due to corrosion and wear;and
WHEREAS,Water Well 3A serves a significant area of the
City and a great number of people,and the City of Baytown is
presently in its period of highest water consumption with
other wellsbeing presently out of service;and
WHEREAS,it is necessary to preserve and protect the
health,welfare,and safety of the citizens of the City of
Baytown;and
WHEREAS,considering the above,the City Council of the
City of Baytown,deems that an emergency situation exists;
NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN,TEXAS:
Section 1:That the City Council of theCity of Baytown,
Texas,hereby declares that an emergencysituation exists.
Section 2:That the Mayor and City Clerk ofthe City
of Baytown are hereby authorized and directed to enter into
a contract containing the usual performance and payment bond
provisions with Singer—Layne Texas for the emergency re-
equiping of Water Well 3A on a unit price basis,Eleven
Thousand Eight Hundred Sixty and No/100 ($11,860.00)Dollars
for a flow-waydeep well turbine pump,column,shaft and
head,with labor and machinery to be paid for on an hourly
basis consistent with the said Singer-Layne1s current pub
lished rates;the totalcosts to be approximately Fifteen
Thousand and No/100 ($15,000.00)Dollars.
Section 3:This ordinance shalltake effect fromand
after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
