Ordinance No. 1,776ORDINANCE NO.1776 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS,DESIGNATING MID-BLOCK PEDESTRIAN CROSSWALKS ON WEST TEXAS AVENUE IN THE CITY OF BAYTOWN;PROHIBITING PARKING WITHIN A DISTANCE OF 100'IN ADVANCE OF AND WITHIN A DISTANCE OF 20'BEYONDSAID CROSSWALKS;DI RECTING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO CAUSE SAID CROSSWALKS TO BE PROPERLY POSTED AND MAINTAINED;PRESCRIBING A MAXIMUM PENALTY OF TWO HUNDRED AND NO/100 ($200.00) DOLLARS FOR VIOLATION THEREOF;AND PROVIDINGFOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1:That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas,does hereby designate the following described portions of West Texas Avenue as Mid-Block Pedestrian Crosswalks: a.An eight (81)foot wide crosswalk -four (41)feet on either side of a centerline one hundred fifty (1501) feet east of the intersection of the eastern right of way line of Pruett Street with West Texas Avenue,diagonally so as tobe perpendicular to the curbs (north and south). b.An eight (81)foot wide crosswalk -four (41)feet on either side of a centerline one hundred fifty (150') east of the intersection of the eastern rights of way of Jones Street with West Texas Avenue,diagonally so as to be perpendicular to the curbs (north and south). c.An eight (81)foot wide crosswalk -four (41)feet on either side of a centerline one hundred fifty (150') feet east of the intersection of the eastern right of way line of Gaillard Street with West Texas Avenue, diagonally soas tobe perpendicular to the curbs (north and south). d.An eight (81)foot wide crosswalk -four (41)feet on either side of the centerline one hundred fifty (150') feet east of the intersection of the eastern right of way lineof Ashbel Street with West Texas Avenue,diagonally soas to be perpendicular tothe curbs (north and south). Section 2:The Chief of Police is hereby authorized and directed to cause the proper signs to be posted at the above described locations. Section 3:It shall be unlawful for a driver of a vehicle to disobey the instruction of the signs placed in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance,unless at the time other wise directed by a police officer. Section 4:Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not morethan Two Hundred ($200.00)Dollars,and each violation shall constitute a separate offense. Section 5:This ordinance shall take effect from and after ten (10)days after its passage by the City Council. TheCity Clerk is hereby directed to give notice hereof by causing the caption of this ordinance tobe published in the official newspaper of the City of Baytown at leasttwice within ten (10)days after the passage of this ordinance.
