AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS,
AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN THE PROPOSED TEXAS UTILITY ADVISORY
COUNCIL STUDY REGARDINGTELEPHONE SEPARATION PROCEDURES AND AU
THORIZING PAYMENT OF AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED 1.5 CENTS PER
CITIZEN (1970 POPULATION)AND PROVIDING FORTHE EFFECTIVE DATE
HEREOF.
WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Baytown is concerned with the
fairness and equity ofthe present separation procedures of telephone companies;
and
WHEREAS,the Texas Utility Advisory Council (TUAC)proposes a special
study to investigate this procedure and verify whether local customers are
receiving full benefits of the profitable long distance toll portion of the
telephone company's operation;and
WHEREAS the cost for participation in this special study is not to exceed
1.5 cents per citizen (1970 Population)to engage a consultant and to conduct
a thorough statewide analysis of this vital issue;NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS:
Section 1:That the City Council of the City of Baytown does hereby au
thorize participation in the proposed Texas Utility Advisory Council's Study
regarding telephone separation procedures and does authorize payment of an
amount not to exceed 1.5 cents per citizen (1970 Population)as Baytown's
portion of the cost ofthisstudy.
Section 2:The City Manager is hereby directed to notify the Texas Utility
Advisory Council of the City of Baytown's intention to participate in this state
wide telephone separations study.
Section 3:This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its
passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
