Ordinance No. 1,665ORDINANCE NO.1665 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS,BY THE AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 18,"MOTOR VEHICLES ANDTRAFFIC," BY THE AMENDMENT OF SECTION 18-122.2,DESIGNATING A NO-PARKING ZONE ON GARTH ROAD FROM DECKER DRIVE TO BAKER ROAD AND PROVIDING FOR A "TOW-AWAY"ZONE BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION 18-123.1,ESTAB LISHMENT OF "TOW-AWAY"ZONES;PROVIDING FOR A MAXIMUM PENALTY OF TWO HUNDRED ($200.00)DOLLARS FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF,AND PRO VIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OFTHECITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS: Section 1:Pursuant to the provisions of Section 18-122 of the Code of Ordinances,the following described portions of Garth Road are hereby declared to be no parking zones,and parking of vehicles of anynature within such areas or zones shall be prohibited as follows: Section 18-122.2 -Designation of no-parking zones. (k)Garth Road,from Decker Drive to Baker Road on both sides.Parking of vehicles within such area is hereby prohibited at all times. Section 2:That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Baytown,Texas,is hereby amended by amending Chapter 18,"Motor Vehicles and Traffic,"by adding Section 18-123.1,Establishment of "tow-away"zones,which shall read as follows, to wit: Section 18-123.1.Establishment of "tow-away"zones. The Director of Planning and Traffic is hereby authorized,subject to approval of City Council,to establish "tow-away zones"in conjunction with no parking regulations upon any street of the city,andfor whatever times his study of such streets shows that an illegally parked vehicle wouldcause an undue hazard or delay to moving traffic. Section 3:Thatpursuant to the provisions of this ordinance,the Director of Planning and Traffic is authorized and directed to cause the proper signs to be posted as designated above. Section 4:It shall be unlawful for a driver of a vehicle to disobey the instructions of said signs placed in accordance with the provisions of this or dinance,unless at the time otherwise directed by a police officer. Section 5:Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than Two Hundred ($200.00)Dollars,and each vi olation shall constitute a separate offense. Section 6:This ordinance shall take effect from and after ten (10)days after its passage bythe City Council.The City Clerk is hereby directed to give noticehereof by causing the caption of this ordinance to be published in the official newspaper of the City of Baytown at leasttwice within ten (10) days after the passage of this ordinance.
