AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS,BY THE AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 1-8,"MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC,"
ARTICLE V,"STOPPING,STANDING AND PARKING,"BY ADDING SECTION 115.2,
PROHIBITED -20 FEET EITHER SIDEOF VEHICULAR DETECTOR LOOP FOR AC
TUATION TYPE TRAFFIC SIGNALS;PRESCRIBING A MAXIMUM PENALTY OF TWO
HUNDRED AND NO/100 ($200.00)DOLLARS FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF;AND
PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THECITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS:
Section 1:That the Code ofOrdinances of the Cityof Baytown,Texas,is
hereby amended by amending Chapter 18,"Motor Vehicles and Traffic,"by adding
Section 115.2,Prohibited -20 Feet Either Side of Vehicular Detector Loop for
Actuation Type Traffic Signals,which shall read as follows,to-wit:
Section 115.2.Prohibited -20 Feet Either Sideof Vehicular Detector
Loop for Actuation Type Traffic Signals.
Except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic,or in com
pliance with law,or the direction of a Police Officer or an official
traffic control device,no person shall stop,stand or park a vehicle
within 20 feet either side of a vehicular detector loop for actuation
type traffic signals.
The Chief of Police shall cause no parking signs to be posted and
maintained within 20 feet either sideof a vehicular detector loop
for actuation type traffic signals.
Section 2:It shall be unlawful for a driver of a vehicle to disobey the
instructions of the signs placed in accordance with the provisions of this or
dinance,unless at the time otherwise directed by a police officer.
Section 3:Any person violating the provisions ofthis ordinance shall be
punished by a fineof not more than Two Hundred ($200.00)Dollars,and each vi
olation shall constitute a separate offense.
Section 4:This ordinance shall take effect from and after ten (10)days
after its passage by the City Council.The City Clerk is herebydirected to give
noticehereof by causing the caption of this ordinance to be published in the
official newspaper of the City of Baytown at leasttwice within ten (10)days
after the passage of this ordinance.
