AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS,AMENDING
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY THE AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 18,"MOTOR VEHICLES
ANDTRAFFIC,"ARTICLE III,"TRAFFIC CONTROLDEVICES GENERALLY,"SECTION
18-76,CONFORMITY WITH MANUAL AND SPECIFICATIONS OF STATE HIGHWAY DE
PARTMENT;UNIFORMITY,SO AS TO REPEAL THE PROVISIONS OF SUCH SECTION AS
PRESENTLY CONSTITUTED AND TO SUBSTITUTE IN ITS PLACE A NEW SECTION 18-76;
REPEALING ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH;CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE;
AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OFTHECITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS:
Section 1:That the CodeofOrdinances of the Cityof Baytown,Texas,is
-^hereby amended by amending Chapter 18,"Motor Vehicles and Traffic,"by repealing
Section 18-76,Conformity with Manual and Specifications of State Highway Depart
ment;Uniformity,thereof;and the same shall cease to have force and effect from
and after the effective date of this ordinance.
Section 2:That the Codeof Ordinances,herein is hereby amended by adding
thereto a new Section 18-76,Manual for Traffic Control Devices,which shall read
as follows,to-wit:
Section 18-76.Manualfor Traffic Control Devices.
"The Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and
Highways,1973,"and amendments thereto,shall be the standardfor a
uniform system of traffic control devices upon streets within the
City of Baytown.All traffic control signs,signals and devices shall
0^conform to the specifications set forth in this manual.All traffic
control devices so erected and not inconsistent with the Code ofOr
dinances shallbe official traffic control devices.
Section 3:Repealing Clause:All ordinances or parts of ordinances
inconsistent with the termsof this ordinances are hereby repealed;provided,
however,that suchrepeal shall be only to the extent of such inconsistency
and in all other respects this ordinance shallbe cumulative of other ordinances
regulating and governing the subject matter covered by this ordinance.
Section 4:Savings Clause:If any provision,section,exception,sub
section,paragraph,sentence,clause or phrase of this ordinance or the application
of same to any person or set of circumstances,shall for any reason be held
unconstitutional,void or invalid,such invalidity shall not affect the validity
of the remaining provisions of this ordinance or their application to other
persons orsets of circumstances and to this end all provisions of this ordinance
are declared to be severable.
Section 5:Effective Date:This ordinance shall take effect from and
after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.

1.The City Council of the City of Baytown,Texas,convened in Regular
Meeting on the 13th day of June,1974,in the City Hall,within said City,and
the roll was called of the duly constituted officers and members of said City
Council,to-wit:

was duly introduced for the consideration of said City Council and read in full.
After due discussion,it was then duly moved and seconded that said ordinance be
adopted;and said motion carried by the following vote:
AYES:All members of said City Council shown
present abovevoted "Aye."
NOES:None.
2.That a true,full,and correct copy of the aforesaidordinance adopted
at the meeting described in the above and foregoing paragraph is attached to and
follows this certificate;that said ordinance has been duly recorded in said City
Council's minutes of said meeting;that the persons named in the above and fore
going paragraph are the duly chosen,qualified,and acting officers and members
of said City Council as indicated therein;that eachof the officers and members
of said City Council was duly and sufficiently notified officially and personally
in advance,of thetime,place,and purpose of the aforesaid meeting,and that
said ordinance would be introduced and considered for adoption atsaid meeting;
that said meeting was open to the public as required by law;and that public notice
of the time,place,and subject of said meeting was given as required by Article
6252-17,Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes,as amended.
3.The Mayor of saidCity has approved,and hereby approves,the afore
said ordinance-the Mayor and the City Clerk of said City have duly signed said
ordinance;and the Mayor and City Clerk of said City hereby declare that their
signing of this certificate shall also constitute the signing of the attached
and following copy of said ordinance for all purposes.
