AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITYOF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS,DESIGNATING MID-BLOCK PEDESTRIAN CROSSWALKS ON MARKET
AND WEST MAIN STREETS IN THE CITY OF BAYTOWN;PROHIBITING
PARKING WITHIN A DISTANCE OF TOO'IN ADVANCE OF ANDWITHIN
A DISTANCE OF 20'BEYOND SAID CROSSWALKS;DIRECTING THECHIEF
OF POLICE TO CAUSE SAID CROSSWALKS TOBE PROPERLY POSTED
AND MAINTAINED;PRESCRIBING A MAXIMUMPENALTY OF TWO HUNDRED
AND NO/100 ($200.00)DOLLARS FORTHE VIOLATION THEREOF;AND
PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
BEIT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THECITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS:
Section 1:That the City Council of the City of Baytown,Texas,does hereby
designated the followingdescribed portions of Market Street and WestMainStreet
as Mid-Block Pedestrian Crosswalks:
Market Street:An 81 crosswalk with its centerline situated 27[
Eastof the Eastcurbline of Civil Circle West.
West Main:An 81 crosswalk with its centerline situated 242'
West of the intersection of the extension of the
West right of way line of Maryland Street with
the North right of way lineofWestMain Street.
Section 2:The Chief of Police shall cause the area a distance of 100'in
advance of and within a distance of 20'beyond the above designated official cross
walks to be properly posted and maintained as a "No Parking"area.
Section 3:It shall be unlawful for a driver of a vehicle to disobey the
instructions of the signs placed in accordance with the provisions ofthisor
dinance,unless at the time otherwise directed by a police officer.
Section 4:This ordinance shall take effect from and after ten (10)days
after its passage bythe City Council.The CityClerk is hereby directed to
give noticehereof by causing the caption ofthis ordinance to be published in
the official newspaper of the City of Baytown at least twice within ten (10)
days after the passage ofthis ordinance.
