Ordinance No. 1,532ORDINANCE NO.1532 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS, AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY THE AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 18, "MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC",SECTION 18-41,U-TURNS,SO ASTO REPEAL THE PROVISIONS OF SUCH SECTION AS PRESENTLY CONSTITUTED AND TO SUBSTITUTE IN ITS PLACE A NEW SECTION 18-41,AND BY ADDING TO SAID CHAPTER ANEW SECTION 18-41.1,U-TURNS -RESTRICTIONS; REPEALING ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH;CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE;PROVIDING A MAXIMUM PENALTY OF TWO HUNDREDDOLLARS FOR EACH OFFENSE;AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. BEIT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS: Section 1:That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Baytown,Texas, is hereby amended by amending Chapter 18,"Motor Vehicles and Traffic",by repealing Section 18-41,U-Turns thereof,andthe same shall cease to have force and effect from and after the effective date of this ordinance. Section 2:That the Code of Ordinances,herein is hereby amended by adding thereto a new Section 18-41,U-Turns -Limitation on Turning Around,in Chapter 18,"Motor Vehicles and Traffic",which shall read as follows,to-wit: Section 18-41.U-Turns -Limitation on Turning Around. The driver of any vehicle shall not turn such vehicle so as to proceed in the opposite direction upon any street in a no passing zone or at any place where an authorized U-Turn prohibition sign is erected,or any other street or place so turn a vehicle unless such movement can be made in jwn safety and without interfering with other traffic. Section 3:That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Baytown,Texas, is hereby amended by adding thereto a new Section 18-41.1,U-Turns -Restrictions, in Chapter 18,"Motor Vehicles and Traffic",which shall read as follows,to-wit: Section 18-41.1.U-Turns -Restrictions. Under the provisions of Section 18-41,U-Turns -Limitation on Turning Around,it is illegal to make U-Turns in the following places: (1)On Alexander Drive at (a)Texas Avenue; (b)Defee Avenue; (c)Ward Road; (d)Cedar Bayou Road (Southbound only); (e)Lacy Drive (Northbound only); (f)JamesBowieDrive (Northbound only). (2)On North Main Street at (a)Cedar Bayou Road and Morrell Street; b)Massey Tompkins Road and Rollingbrook Drive; c)Baker Road (Northbound only); d)Midway Drive (Southbound only); (e)Harold Lane (Northbound only). (3)On GarthRoad at (a)Park Avenue; (b)Rollingbrook Drive. (4)On Ward Road at (a)North Main Street. (5)On Rollingbrook Drive at (a)North Main Street. (6)On Market Street at (a)Lee Drive (Westbound only). (7)On Commerce Street at (a)Pearce Avenue. (8)On Pearce Avenue at (a)Commerce Street. (9)On South PruettStreet at (a)Horace Mann Junior School. Section 4:The Chief ofPolice is hereby authorized and directed to cause the proper signs to be posted at the above described locations. Section 5:It shall be unlawful for a driver of a vehicle to disobey the instructions of the signs placed in accordance with the provisions of this or dinance,unless at the time otherwise directed by a police officer. Section 6:Any person violating the provisionsof this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than Two Hundred ($200.00)Dollars,and each violation shall constitute a separate offense.
