AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THECITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS,
AMENDINGTHE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY THE AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 18,
"MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC",SECTION 18-42.1,DESIGNATION OF
GROSS WEIGHT,SOASTO REPEAL THE PROVISIONS OF SUCH SECTION AS
PRESENTLY CONSTITUTEDANDTO SUBSTITUTE IN ITS PLACE A NEW SECTION
18-42.1;REPEALING ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH;CONTAINING
A SAVINGS CLAUSE;PROVIDING A MAXIMUM PENALTY OF TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS
FOR EACHOFFENSE;AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE
DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OFBAYTOWN,TEXAS:
^p»v Section 1:That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Baytown,Texas,
is hereby amended by amending Chapter 18,"Motor Vehicles and Traffic",by
repealing Section 18-42.1,Designation of Gross Weight thereof,and the same
shall cease to have force andeffect from and after the effective date of
this ordinance.
Section 2:That the Code of Ordinances,herein is hereby amended by
adding thereto a new Section 18-42.1,Designation of Gross Weight,in Chapter
18,"Motor Vehicles and Traffic",which shall read as follows,to-wit:
Section 18-42.1.Designation of Gross Weight.
(a)Five thousand (5,000)pounds (2 1/2 tons)limit:
^(1)That portion of West Texas Avenue crossing the bridge
'over Goose Creek Stream.
(2)That portion of Elvinta Street crossing the bridge over
Pond Gully.
(b)Six thousand (6,000)pounds (3 tons)limit:
(1)That portion of CivicDrive from Civic Circle to Market
Street.
Section 3:The Chiefof Police is hereby authorized and directed to cause
the proper signs tobe posted at the above described locations.
Section 4:It shall be unlawful for a driver of a vehicle to disobey the
instructionsof thesigns placed in accordancewith the provisions of this or
dinance,unless atthe time otherwise directed by a police officer.
Section 5:Anyperson violating the provisions of this ordinance shall
be punished by a fine of not more than Two Hundred ($200.00)Dollars,and each
violation shall constitute a separate offense.
Section 6:This ordinance shall take effect from and after ten (10)days
after its passage by the City Council.The City Clerk is hereby directed to
give noticehereofby causing the caption of this ordinance to be published in
the official newspaper of the City of Baytown at least twice within ten (10)
days after the passage of this ordinance.
