Ordinance No. 1,462ORDINANCE NO.1462 AN ORDINANCE OFTHE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS, ACCEPTING THE BID OF BROWN &ROOT,INC.OF HOUSTON,TEXAS,FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF PHASE III,1973 STREET IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZING THE CONTRACTING OF INDEBTEDNESS BY THE CITY FOR THE SUM OF ONE HUNDREDNINETY-FOUR THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED THIRTY- SIX AND 25/100 ($194,336.25)DOLLARS WITH REGARD TO SUCH AGREEMENT. WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Baytown,Texas,did authorize Jack Morton,City Engineer for the City of Baytown,to advertise for bids forthe construction of Phase III,1973 Street Improvement Program to be received September 10,1973;and WHEREAS,notice to bidders as to the time and place,when and where the contract for said construction would be let was published pursuant to provisions of Vernon's Civil Statutes,Article 2368a;and WHEREAS,all bids were opened and publicly read at City Hall at 3:00 o'clock p.m.,Monday,September 10,1973,as per published notice to bidders;NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN: Section 1:That the City Council of the City of Baytown,Texas,hereby accepts the bid of Brown &Root,Inc.of Houston,Texas,according to the plans and specifications set forth by the City Engineer on a construction timetable of 120 work days for the sum of One Hundred Ninety-Four Thousand Three Hundred Thirty-Six and 25/100 ($194,336.25)Dollars,and the Mayor and City Clerk of the City are hereby authorized and directed to execute and attest to a contract with Brown &Root,Inc.for the construction of said Phase III,1973 Street Im provement Program which includes the following streets:Arkansas,Beaumont,Bowie, Carlton,Donovan,Dorris,Dyer,Fanistiel,North First,Harbor,Avenue "J",Avenue "K",Avenue "L",Lindberg,Lincoln,Mabry,Neal,and Oakwood;containing the plans,specifications,and requirements of the City Engineer and appropriate bond and drawn provisions in accordancewith the provisions of Vernon's Civil Statutes,Article 5160.
