ORDINANCE NO. 1374
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, ACCEPTING
THE BID OF BROWN & ROOT, INC. FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF PHASE I OF THE 1973
STREET IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZING THE CONTRACTING OF INDEBTEDNESS
BY THE CITY FOR THE SUM OF TWO HUNDRED EIGHTY THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED FIFTY -
SEVEN AND 30/100 ($280,857.30) DOLLARS WITH REGARD TO SUCH AGREEMENT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, did authorize
Jack Morton, City Engineer for the City of Baytown, to advertise for bids
for the construction of Phase I, 1973 Street Improvement Program to be received
March 5, 1973; and
WHEREAS, notice to bidders as to the time and place, when and where
the contract for said construction would be let was published pursuant to
provisions of Vernon's Civil Statutes, Article 2368a; and
WHEREAS, all bids were opened and publicly read at City Hall at 3:00
o'clock p.m., Monday, March 5, 1973, as per published notice to bidders;
NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, hereby
accepts the bid of Brown & Root, Inc. for the construction of Phase I, 1973
Street Improvement Program which includes the following streets: Lobit,
East Pearce, Cedar Bayou - Crosby, Elvinta, Massey - Tompkins, Texas Avenue &
Bayou Drive, North Burnet, Rollingwood, Morrell, and Cypress, according to
the plans and specifications set forth by the City Engineer on a construction
timetable of 150 working days for the sum of Two Hundred Eighty Thousand
Eight Hundred Fifty -Seven and 30/100 ($280,857.30) Dollars, and the Mayor
and City Clerk of the City are hereby authorized and directed to execute
and attest to a contract with Brown & Root, Inc. for the construction of
said Phase I, 1973 Street Improvement Program containing the plans, specifications
and requirements of the City Engineer and appropriate bond and drawn provisions
in accordance with the provisions of Vernon's Civil Statutes, Article 5160.
