AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF
CERTAIN TERRITORY, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND
ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS.
WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council of the City of Baytown,
Texas, where all interested persons were provided with an opportunity to be
heard on the proposed annexation of the following described property, to -wit:
3.6 acres located in the William Scott Upper League, Abstract 66, Harris
County, Texas, out of and part of that certain 15 -acre tract which was
conveyed by Humble Oil & Refining Company to the University of Oklahoma
Foundation, Inc., by deed dated June 26, 1964, said deed being recorded
in Volume 5583, Page 162 of the Deed Records of Harris County, Texas.
Said 3.6 acres being described more fully as follows:
BEGINNING at the northeastern corner of said 15 -acre tract, said corner
being on the existing city limit line of the City of Baytown;
THENCE, south 11 002' west, a distance of 441.55 feet to a point for
corner;
THENCE, south 89 °34' west, a distance of 399.01 feet to a point for
corner;
THENCE, north 00 026' west, a distance of 432.74 feet to a point for
corner;
THENCE, north 89 °34' east, along the city limit line of the City of
Baytown, a distance of 486.79 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING; SAVE
AND EXCEPT a tract of land called 100 feet wide and being more parti-
cularly described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the north line of the aforementioned 15 -acre
tract, said point being the northeast corner of a 100 foot wide ease-
ment herein described and being south 89 °34' west, 130 feet from the
northeast corner of the aforesaid 15 -acre tract of land.
THENCE, continuing south 89 034' west 106.36 feet to the northwest
corner of said 100 foot wide right -of -way;
THENCE, south 20 011'46" east, 446.78 feet to a point on the easterly
line on the 15 -acre tract of land, said point being 12.52 feet north
11 °02' east of the southeastern corner of said 15 -acre tract of land
and being the southwest corner of the easement herein described;
THENCE, north 11 °02' east, 192.95 feet to the southeast corner of the
100 foot wide easement herein described;
THENCE, north 20 °10'58" west, 245.83 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
was held at 7:00 o'clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall
of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the 26th day of October, 1972, which date
is not more than twenty (20) nor less than ten (10) days prior to the institution
of annexation proceedings; and
WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in a newspaper
having general circulation in the City of Baytown, Texas, and in the above
described territory on the 13th day of October, 1972, which date is not more
than twenty (20) nor less than ten (10) days prior to the date of such public
hearing; and
WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Baytown, Texas on the
lst day of January, 1972, was 16,964.0217 acres; and
WHEREAS, the population of the City of Baytown, Texas, is approximately
50,000 inhabitants; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the extraterritorial
jurisdiction of the City of Baytown, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to and adjoins
the City of Baytown, Texas; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the following described land and territory lying ad-
jacent to and adjoining the City of Baytown, Texas, is hereby added and annexed
to the City of Baytown, Texas, and the said territory hereinafter described
shall hereafter be included within the boundary limits of the City of Baytown,
Texas, and the present boundary limits of such City, at the various points
contiguous to the area hereinafter described, are altered and amended so as
to include said area within the corporate limits of the City of Baytown, Texas,
to -wit:

Section 2: The above described territory and the area so annexed shall
be a part of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the property so added hereby
shall bear its pro rata part of the taxes levied by the City of Baytown, Texas,
and the inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights and privi-
leges of all the citizens and shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions,
and regulations of the City of Baytown, Texas.
Section 3: This ordinance shall be published and passed in the manner
provided in Article 1, Section 9 of the Charter of the City of Baytown, Texas.
