AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS,
ACCEPTING THE BID OF BROWN & ROOT, INC., FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF PHASE I, 1972 STREET IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZING THE
CONTRACTING OF INDEBTEDNESS BY THE CITY FOR THE SUM OF ONE HUNDRED
FOUR THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED SIXTY -EIGHT AND 95/100 ($104,668.95)
DOLLARS WITH REGARD TO SUCH AGREEMENT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, did authorize
Jack Morton, City Engineer for the City of Baytown, to advertise for bids for
the construction of Phase I, 1972 Street Improvement Program to be received
June 1, 1972; and
WHEREAS, notice to bidders as to the time and place, when and where the
contract for said construction would be let was published pursuant to provisions
of Vernon's Civil Statutes Article 2368a; and
WHEREAS, all bids were opened and publicly read at City Hall at 10:00
o'clock a.m., Tuesday, June 1, 1972, as per published notice to bidders,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, hereby
accepts the bid of Brown & Root, Inc. for the construction of Phase I, 1972
Street Improvement Program which includes the following streets: Durain Ferry
Road, Willow (West Main to Riggs), Willow Lane (North Burnet to Pin Oak), North
Jones (Lobit to Schilling), Gail, South Third Street (Texas to Republic), and
Washington (Florida to Tennessee), according to the plans and specifications
set forth by the City Engineer on a construction timetable at 90 days for the
sum of One Hundred Four Thousand Six Hundred Sixty -Eight and 95/100 ($104,668.95)
Dollars, and the Mayor and City Clerk of the City are hereby authorized and di-
rected to execute and attest to a contract with Brown & Root, Inc. for the con-
struction of said Phase I, 1972 Street Improvement Program containing the plans,
specifications and requirements of the City Engineer and appropriate bond and
drawn provisions in accordance with the provisions of Vernon's Civil Statutes
Article 5160.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the City Council
on the 8th day of June , 1972.
