Ordinance No. 1,212ORDINANCE NO. 1212 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS DURING CONSTRUCTION ON HIGHWAY 146 FROM ALEXANDER DRIVE TO CEDAR BAYOU ROAD AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF. WHEREAS, the Texas Highway Department has made it known to the City of Baytown that operation will begin in the near future for the improvement of Highway 146 from Alexander Drive to Cedar Bayou Road; and WHEREAS, in the interest of safety, it is desirable to maintain a construction speed zone during the construction period, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That a construction speed zone be established along Highway 146 from Alexander Drive to Cedar Bayou Road, a distance of approximately 2.283 miles, 30 miles per hour when so signed within said zone. Section 2: Necessary signs for posting the speed zone will be furnished, installed, and maintained by direction of the Texas Highway Department's engineer in charge of the project. Section 3: Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance shall upon conviction be fined in any sum not to exceed Two Hundred and No /100 ($200.00) Dollars. Section 4: This ordinance shall be in effect only during the period of construction, and completion of the project shall automatically cancel the speed zone.
