Ordinance No. 1,178ORDINANCE NO. 1178 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS. WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, where all interested persons were provided with an opportunity to be heard on the proposed annexation of the following described property, to -wit: BEING a 3.64 acre tract of land out of the J. W. Singleton Survey A -709 In Harris County, Texas and being northeast of the City of Baytown, Harris County, Texas, and being more particularly described by metes and bounds as follows: COMMENCING at the intersection of the north right -of -way line of Massey - Tompkins Road and the west right -of -way line of Barkaloo Road; THENCE, south 80 °30' west along the north right -of -way line of Massey - Tompkins Road a distance of 1609.5 feet to a point in the north right -of -way line Massey - Tompkins Road; THENCE, north 11 °08' west a distance of 200.00 feet to a point in the existing City of Baytown city limit line said point being the POINT OF BEGINNING of the herein described tract of land; THENCE, continuing north 11 °08' west a distance of 524.0 feet to a point; THENCE, north 80 °30' east a distance of 302.50 feet to a point; THENCE, south 11 °08' east a distance of 524.0 feet to a point in the existing City of Baytown city limit line; THENCE, south 80 °30' west along the existing City of Baytown city limit line, a distance of 302.50 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING. was held at 7:00 o'clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the 1st day of February, 1972, which date is not more than twenty (20) days nor less than ten (10) days prior to the date of such public hearing; and WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in a newspaper having general circulation in the City of Baytown, Texas, and in the above described territory on the 19th day of January, 1972, which date is not more than twenty (20) nor less than ten (10) days prior to the date of such public hearing; and WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Baytown, Texas on the lst day of January, 1972, was 16,964.0217 acres; and WHEREAS, the population of the City of Baytown, Texas, is approximately 50,000 inhabitants; and WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Baytown, Texas; and WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to and adjoins the City of Baytown, Texas; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the following described land and territory lying ad- jacent to and adjoining the City of Baytown, Texas, is hereby added and annexed to the City of Baytown, Texas, and the said territory hereinafter described shall hereafter be included within the boundary limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the present boundary limits of such City, at the various points contiguous to the area hereinafter described, are altered and amended so as to include said area within the corporate limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, to -wit: BEING a 3.64 acre tract of land out of the J. IPA Section 2: The above described territory and the area so annexed shall be a part of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the property so added hereby shall bear its pro rata part of the taxes levied by the City of Baytown, Texas, and the inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights and privileges of all the citizens and shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions, and regulations of the City of Baytown, Texas. Section 3: This ordinance shall be published and passed in the manner provided in Article 1, Section 9 of the Charter of the City of Baytown, Texas.
