ORDINANCE NO. 1108
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF BAYTOWN; THE ELECTRICAL CODE CHAPTER 11,
SECTION 11 -48 AND 11 -73, SUBSECTION 18 ADDING AD-
DITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR MASTER ELECTRICIANS TO
OBTAIN PERMITS AND INCLUDING ALL COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS
IN REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH IN SUBSECTION 18 OF SECTION
11 -48; REPEALING ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN:
Section 1: That the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Baytown, Texas, is hereby amended by the amendment of Chapter 11
Article III, Section 11 -48 and Chapter 11 Article IV, Section
11 -73 Subsection 18. So that, as to repeal existing provisions
of such Chapter and Subsection as presently read and to sub-
stitute in their place new provisions to read as follows; to -wit:
Section 11 -48. To whom permits to be issued.
Permits shall be issued only to holders of the proper
electrician's license or electrical sign contractor's
license or persons performing work on his own home.
All Master Electricians requesting the issuance of
permits for the benefit of an electrical contracting
company shall verify that he is the owner of the
company or firm or that he has been in its employment
for a minimum of ninety (90) days.
Section 11 -73. Requirements enumerated.
(18) Approved metallic raceways, such as rigid conduit,
electrical metallic tubing, and under floor cast -in -place
raceways, shall be required for all wires used to conduct
current for lights, heat or power, in the wiring of all
buildings hereafter constructed, as well as additions to
any buildings within fire limits areas Nos. 1 and 2, as
they are now or may hereafter be established, and in
apartment houses of more than four (4) apartments,
churches, schools, hotels, theaters, all commercial
buildings, and other places of public assembly.
Section 2: Savings Clause: If any provision, section,
exception, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of
this ordinance or the application of same to any person or set
of circumstances, shall for any reason be held unconstitutional,
void or invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the validity
of the remaining provisions of this ordinance or their application

to other persons or sets of circumstances and to this end all
provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
Section 3: RePealing Clause: All ordinances or
parts of ordinances inconsistent with the terms of this ordi-
nance are hereby repealed; provided, however, that such repeal
shall be only to the extent of such inconsistency and in all
other respects this ordinance shall be cumulative of other
ordinances regulating and governing the subject matter
covered by this ordinance.
Section 4: Effective Date: This ordinance shall
take effect from and after its passage by the City Council
of the City of Baytown.
