ORDINANCE NO. 1088
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, TO BE
KNOWN AS THE "TRAFFIC CODE" OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN; REGU-
LATING TRAFFIC ON THE PUBLIC STREETS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN;
WORDS AND PHRASES DEFINED; AUTHORITY OF POLICE; DRIVING
REGULATIONS -RULES OF THE ROAD; TURNING AND STARTING AND
SIGNALS ON STOPPING AND TURNING; ACCIDENTS, RECKLESS DRIV-
ING, STARTING PARKED VEHICLES; TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN SIG-
NALS; PEDESTRIANS` RIGHTS AND DUTIES; PARI(ING REGULATIONS;
SPECIAL STOPS REQUIRED; MISCELLANEOUS DRIVING RULES; REPEAL-
ING ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH; CONTAINING A SAVINGS
CLAUSE; PRESCRIBING A MAXIMUM PENALTY OF TWO HUNDRED ($200.00)
DOLLARS; AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE
DATE THEREOF. ", BEING ORDINANCE NO. 752, PASSED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN ON THE 26TH DAY OF AUGUST,
1965, BY AMENDING SECTION 31(d) PERTAINING TO THE DESIGNATION
OF ONE -WAY STREETS; BY PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE, REPEALING
ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES, AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION
AND EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That Section 31(d) of said Ordinance No. 752,
shall be amended to read as follows:
Section 31(d): One -Way Roadways and Rotary Traffic Islands.
1. Ashbel Street: North from its intersection with West
Gulf Street to its intersection with West Sterling Street.
2. Gaillard Street: South from its intersection with
West Sterling Street to its intersection with West Gulf
Street.
3. Jones Street: South from its intersection with West
Gulf Street, and North from its intersection with West
Pearce Street to its intersection with West Defee Street.
4. West Defee Street : East from its 'intersection with
North Pruett Street to its intersection with North Main
Street.
5. West Sterling Street : West from its intersection with
North Commerce Street to its intersection with North Main
Street.
6. Oklahoma Street: North from its intersection with
Wisconsin Street to its intersection with Minnesota Street.
7. Colorado Street: South from its intersection. with Minnesota
:street to its intersection with Wisconsin Street.
8. Magnolia Street: North from its intersection with Market
Street to its intersection with Cedar Street.
9. Denby Strut: West from its intersection with Pru{ =tt
Street to its intersection with Massey Street.
10. Casey Street: East from its intersection with Pruett
Street to its intersection with Massey Street.
11. Massey Street: North from its intersection with Casey
Street to its intersection with Denby Street.
12. Virginia Street: East from its intersection with Georgia
Street to its intersection with New Jersey Street.
13. New Jersey: North from its intersection with Virginia
Street to its intersection with West Main Street; except on
Sundays, when two -way traffic is authorized.
Section 2: Savings Clause: If any provision, section,

exception, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this
ordinance or the application of same to any person or set of cir-
cumstances, shall for any reason be held unconstitutional, void or
invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the validity of the remain
ing provisions of this ordinance or their application to other persons
or sets of circumstances and to this end all provisions of this ordinance
are declared to Le severable.
Section 3: Repealing Clause: All ordinances or parts
of ordinances inconsistent with the terms of this ordinance are
hereby repealed; provided, however, that such repeal shall be only
to the extent of such inconsistency and in all other respects this
ordinance shall be cumulative of other ordinances regulating and governing
the subject matter covered by this ordinance.
Section 4: Effective Date: This ordinance shall take effect
from and after ten (10) days after its passage by the City Council.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to give notice hereof by causing
the caption of this ordinance to be published in the official newspaper
of the City of Baytown at least twice within ten (10) days after its
passage.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the
City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, on this 8th day of April, 1971.
