AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 1023, PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN ON
THE 12TH DAY OF MARCH, 1970, BY AMENDING SECTION 2 THEREOF PERTAINING TO
TWO HOUR TIME LIMIT PARKING ZONES; PROVIDING FOR A PARKING METER ZONE
CONCERNING CERTAIN DESIGNATED AREAS ADJACENT TO THE UNITED STATES POST
OFFICE; PROVIDING FOR THE INSTALLATION OF PARKING METERS; PROVIDING PRO-
CEDURES FOR THE USE OF SUCH METERS AND OVERTIME PARKING REQUIREMENTS;
PROVIDING DUTIES FOR MEMBERS OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING FOR
PARKING.TIME LIMITS; PROVIDING.CERTAIN PENALTIES; PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE;
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
Section 1: Section 2 of Ordinance No. 1023 is hereby amended
with reference to the two -hour time parking limit zone pertaining to
Defee Street from Pruett Street to Commerce Street, and Gaillard Street
from Gulf Street to Sterling Street. Defee Street from Pruett Street
to Commerce Street shall constitute a two-hour time limit parking zone,
except for the first three parking places on the north side of Defee
Street east of the intersection of Defee Street and Gaillard Street;
such three parking places shall constitute a parking meter zone. Gaillard
Street from Gulf Street to Sterling Street shall constitute a two -hour
time limit parking zone, except for the three parking places on the east
side of Gaillard Street and immediately north of the intersection of Gaillard
Street and Defee Street; such three parking places shall also constitute
a parking meter zone. All other portions of Defee Street and Gaillard
Street, within the limits herein provided, and all other areas, streets
or portions of streets or other areas described in Section 2 of said
Ordinance No. 1023 are hereby continued as two -hour time limit parking
zones.
Section 2: Parking Meter Zone. Pursuant to Section 18 -153 of
the Code of Ordinances, the following named and described areas, streets,
or portions of streets and such other areas, streets, or portions of streets
as may hereafter be included in this Section by amendment hereto, lying
within the corporate limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, shall constitute
a parking meter zone, to -wit: the three parking spaces on the north side
of Defee Street, immediately east from the intersection of Defee Street
and Gaillard Street; the three parking spaces on the east side of Gaillard
Street, immediately north of the intersection of Defee Street and Gaillard
Street.
Section 3: Parking meters installed in the parking meter
zones established as provided in Section 2 hereof shall be installed
in compliance with Section 18 -154 of the Code of Ordinances.
Section 4: The procedures of Section 18 -156 of the Code of
f Ordinances shall be followed concerning the deposit of coins, overtime
parking, and parking adjacent to expired meters with regard to the
above designated parking meter zone. It is specifically provided that
all of the prohibitions contained in such Section 18 -156 shall apply
with regard to such parking meter zone.
Section 5: Duties of members of the Police Department with
regard to enforcement procedures shall be as established by Section
7 of Ordinance No. 1023, and further as established by Section 18 -161
of the Code of Ordinances.
Section 6: Parking Time Limits
(a) Parking or standing a vehicle in a designated space
in a parking meter zone, as specified in Section 2 hereof,
shall be lawful for fifteen (15) minutes upon deposit of
one (1) five ($.05) cent coin of lawful United States of America
currency.
(b) The provisions of this section shall apply and be
effective between the hours of 8:00 o'clock a.m. and
6:00 o'clock p.m. on every day, except Sundays and legal
holidays observed by the City.
Section 7: Penalties: The same penalties prescribed in
Ordinance No. 1023 for overtime parking within the time limit zones
therein described shall apply to the parking meter zone designated
by Section 2 hereof.
Section 8: Repealing Clause: All ordinances or parts of or-
dinances inconsistent with the terms of this ordinance are hereby repealed;
provided, however, that such repeal shall be only to the extent of such
inconsistency and in all other respects this ordinance shall be cumulative
of other ordinances regulating and governing the subject matter covered
by this ordinance.
Section 9: Savings Clause: If any provision, exception, section,
subjection, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance or
the application of same to any person or set of circumstances shall for
any reason be held unconstitutional, void or invalid, such invalidity
shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of this ordi-
nance or their application to other persons or sets of circumstances and
to this end, all provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.

Section 10: Effective Date; This ordinance shall take effect
from and after ten (10) days from its adoption by the City Council of
the City of Baytavn, Texas.
