AN ORDINANCE CONTAINING ORDINANCE NO. 1022, INTRODUCED ON THE
12TH DAY OF MARCH, 1970, AND BEING, AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING
FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY, WHICH
SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUN-
DARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN:
Section 1: That pursuant to Article I, Section 9, of the
City Charter, said Ordinance No. 1022, introduced to the City Council of
the City of Baytown, on the 12th day of March, 1970, in its original form
shall read as follows:

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF
CERTAIN TERRITORY, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND
ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS.
WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council of the City
of Baytown, Texas, where all interested persons were provided with an
opportunity to be heard on the proposed annexation of the following des-
cribed property, to -wit:
COMMENCING at a point in the westerly right -of -way line of
State Farm - Market Highway No. 2354, said point being marked by
a 5/8 inch iron rod having a Texas Plane co- ordinate value of
x= 3,315,954.08; y= 710,156.88 and being located S.54 009122 "W.
a distance of 340.90 feet from a United States Steel Company
concrete monument identified as No. 8 -92 which has a Texas
Plane co- ordinate value of x= 3,316,230.34; y= 710,356.45;
THENCE, in a southeasterly direction across State Farm - Market
Highway No. 2354, perpendicular to the westerly right -of -way
line of said State Highway 2354, a distance of 110 feet to the
westerly line of the existing City of Baytown 10 foot strip to
a point, said point being the POINT OF BEGINNING;
THENCE, in a northwesterly direction 110 feet across State Farm
Market Highway No. 2354 to the said point of commencement;
THENCE, N.74 °10'00 "W. a distance of 629.00 feet, to a point
marked by a 5/8 inch iron rod;
THENCE, S.15 °50'00 "W. a distance of 299.96 feet, to a point
in the westerly right -of -way line of State Farm - Market Highway No. 2354;
THENCE, S.74 °10'00 "E. a distance of 532.84 feet, to a point in
the westerly right -of -way line of State Farm - Market Highway
No. 2354;
THENCE, in a southeasterly direction across State Farm- Market
Highway No. 2354, perpendicular to the Westerly right -of -way
line of said State Highway No. 2354, a distance of 110 feet
to the westerly line of the existing City of Baytown 10' strip;
THENCE, in a northeasterly direction along the westerly line of
the existing City of Baytown 10 foot strip a distance of 10' to
a point;
THENCE, in a northwesterly direction perpendicular to the wes-
terly right -of -way and across State Highway 2354 a distance of
110 feet to a point in the westerly right -of -way of State
Highway 2354;
THENCE, N.74 °10'00 "W. a distance of 526.24 feet to a point;
THENCE, N.15 050'00 "E. a distance of 279.96 feet to a point;
THENCE, S. 74 010'00 "E. a distance of 615.60 feet to a point
in the westerly right -of -way line of State Highway No. 2354;
THENCE, in a southeasterly direction across State Highway No.
2354, a distance of 110 feet to a point in the existing City
of Baytown 10' strip;
THENCE, in a northeasterly direction along the westerly line
of the existing City of Baytown 10 foot strip a distance of
10 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
was held at 6:30 o'clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber of the City
Hall of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the 26th day of February, 1970,
which date is not more than twenty days nor less than ten days, prior
to the institution of annexation proceedings; and
WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in a
newspaper having general circulation in the City of Baytown, Texas, and
in the above described territory on the 15th day of February, 1970, which
date is not more than twenty nor less than ten days prior to the date of
such public hearing; and
WHEREAS, the total corpoate area of the City of Baytown, Texas,
on the first day of January, 1970, was 16,255.4 acres; and
WHEREAS, the population of the City of Baytown, Texas, is
48,000 inhabitants; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the extra-
territorial jurisdiction of the City of Baytown, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to and

adjoins the City of Baytown, Texas; NOW THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the following described land and territory
lying adjacent to and adjoining the City of Baytown, Texas, is hereby
added and annexed to the City of Baytown, Texas, and the said territory
hereinafter described shall hereafter be included within the boundary
limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the present boundary limits of
such City, at the various points contiguous to the area hereinafter des-
cribed, are altered and amended so as to include said area within the
corporate limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, to -wit:
COMMENCING at a point in the westerly right -of -way line of State
Farm - Market Highway No. 2354, said point being marked by a 5/8
inch iron rod having a Texas plan co- ordinate value of x= 3,315,954.08;
y= 710,156.88 and being located S.54 009122 "W. a distance of 340.80
feet from a United States Steel Company concrete monument identified
as No.8 -92 which has a Texas plane co- ordinate value of x= 3,316,230.34;
y= 710,356.45;
THENCE, in a southeasterly direction across State Farm - Market
Highway No. 2354, perpendicular to the westerly right -of -way line
of said State' Highway 2354, a distance of 110 feet to the wes-
terly line of the existing City of Baytown 10 foot stirp to a
point, said point being the POINT OF BEGINNING;
THENCE, in a northwesterly direction 110 feet across State Farm
Market Highway No. 2354 to the said point of commencement;
THENCE, N.74 °10'00 "W. a distance of 629.00 feet, to a point
marked by a 5/8 inch iron rod;
THENCE, S.15 050100 "W. a distance of 299.96 feet, to a point
marked by a 5/8 inch iron rod;
THENCE, S.74 010'00" E. a distance of 532.84 feet, to a point
in the westerly right -of -way line of State Farm Market Highway
No. 2354;
THENCE, in a southeasterly direction across State Farm - Market
Highway No. 2354, perpendicular to the Westerly right -of -way
line of said State Highway No. 2354, a distance of 110 feet
to the westerly line of the existing City of Baytown 10' strip;
THENCE, in a northeasterly direction along the westerly line
of the existing City of Baytown 10 foot strip a distance of
10' to a point;
THENCE, in a northwesterly direction perpendicular to the
westerly right -of -way and across State Highway 2354 a distance
of 110 feet to a point in the Westerly right -of -way of State
Highway 2354;
THENCE, N.74 °10'00 "W. a distance of 526.24 feet to a point;
THENCE, N.15 050'00 "E. a distance of 279.96 feet to a point;

THENCE, in a southeasterly direction across State Highway No.

THENCE, in a northeasterly direction along the westerly line
of the existing City of Baytown 10 foot strip a distance of
10 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
Section 2: The above described territory and the area so an-
nexed shall be a part of' the City of Baytown, Texas,
added hereby shall bear its pro rata part of the taxi
of Baytown, Texas, and the inhabitants thereof shall
of the rights and privileges of all the citizens and
the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of
Texas,
