Ordinance No. 1,004-AORDINANCE NO. 1004 -A AN ORDINANCE CONTAINING ORDINANCE NO. 1004, INTRO- DUCED THE 4TH DAY OF DECEMBER, 1969, AND BEING, "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF A TEN (10) FOOT STRIP OF LAND, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS." PROVIDING FOR THE FINAL PASSAGE OF SAID ORDINANCE PURSUANT TO AR- TICLE I, SECTION 9, OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS. BAYTOWN: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF Section 1: That pursuant to Article I, Section 9, of the City Charter, said Ordinance No. 1004, introduced to the City Council of the City of Baytown, on the 4th day of December, 1969, in its original form shall read as follows: ORDINANCE NO. 1004 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF A TEN (10) FOOT STRIP OF LAND, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS. WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, where all interested persons were provided with an opportunity to be heard on the proposed annexation of the following described property, to -wit: A 10 -foot wide strip situated in the State of Texas, County of Chambers, and being located in the John Ijams Survey (Abstract 15), lying wholly within the right of way of Farm Market Road No. 1405 and along the easterly side thereof, said 10 -foot wide strip being more particularly described as follows: BEGINNING at a point on the existing city limit line of the City of Baytown where the northeasterly right of way line of Tri -City Beach Road (Farm Market Road No. 2354) presently forms a junction with the easterly right of way line of Farm Market Road No. 1405, said point of beginning being along the northeasterly line of a 10 -foot wide strip an- nexed by the City of Baytown pursuant to Ordinance No. 769 -A adopted by the City Council of the City of Baytown, and described as Tract 2 in said Ordinance; THENCE, from said point of beginning along the said easterly right of way line of Farm Market Road No. 1405 in a northerly direction a distance of 10,560 feet running contiguously with all the courses, bearings and meanders, including sight easement areas of said easterly right of way line of Farm Market Road No. 1405 to a point, said point being located approximately 186.43 feet north of the northerly right of way line of former McKinney Road which is now discontinued as a public road but which is maintained as an existing private plant road of United States Steel Corporation; THENCE, in a westerly direction perpendicular to the easterly right of way line of Farm Market Road No. 1405 a distance of 10 feet to a point; THENCE, in a southerly direction parallel to and 10 feet from the easterly right of way line of Farm Market Road No. 1405 running parallel with all the courses, bearings and meanders, including sight easement areas of the easterly right of way line of Farm Market Road No. 1405 a distance of approximately 10,560 feet to a point on the exist- ing City of Baytown city limit line on the north- easterly right of way line of Tri -City Beach Road (Farm Market Road No. 2354); THENCE, in a southeasterly direction along the existing city limit line a distance of approximately 10 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING. was held at 6:30 o'clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the 20th day of November, 1969, which date is not more than twenty days nor less than ten days, prior to the institution of annexation proceedings; and WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in a newspaper having general circulation in the City of Baytown, Texas, and in the above described territory on the 3rd day of November, 1969, which date is not more than twenty nor less than ten days prior to the date of such public hearing; and WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the first day of January, 1969, was 17,280 acres; and WHEREAS, the population of the City of Baytown, Texas, is 45,841 inhabitants; and -2- WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Baytown, Texas; and WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to and adjoins the City of Baytown, Texas; NOW, THEREFORE, BAYTOWN: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF Section 1: That the following described land and territory lying adjacent to and adjoining the City of Baytown Texas, is hereby added and annexed to the City of Baytown, Texas, and the said territory hereinafter described shall here- after be included within the boundary limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the present boundary limits of such City, at the various points contiguous to the area hereinafter des- cribed, are altered and amended so as to include said area within the corporate limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, to -wit: A 10 -foot wide strip situated in the State of Texas, County of Chambers, and being located in the John Ijams Survey (Abstract 15), lying wholly within the right of way of Farm Market Road No. 1405 and along the easterly side thereon, said 10 -foot wide strip being more particularly described as follows: BEGINNING at a point on the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown where the northeasterly right of way line of Tri -City Beach Road (Farm Market Road No. 2354) presently forms a junction with the easterly right of way line of Farm Market Road No. 1405, said point of beginning being along the northeasterly line of a 10 -foot wide strip annexed by the City of Baytown pursuant to Ordinance No. 769 -A adopted by the City Council of the City of Baytown, and described as Tract 2 in said Ordinance; THENCE, in a southeasterly direction along the existing City limit line a distance of approximately 10 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING. Section 2: Thle above described territory and ti area so annexed shall be a part of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the property so added hereby shall bear its pro rata part of the taxes levied by the City of Baytown, Texas, and the inhabitants -thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights and privileges of all the citizens and shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of the City of Baytown, Texas. Section 3: This ordinance shall be published and passed in the manner provided in Article 1, Section 9 of the Charter of the City of Baytown, Texas. rNTRODUCED, READ and PASSED this 4th day of December, 1969.
