Ordinance No. 996-AORDINANCE NO. 996 -A AN ORDINANCE CONTAINING ORDINANCE NO. 996, INTRO- DUCED THE 25TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1969, AND BEING, "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CER- TAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 56.697 ACRES OF LAND, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS." PROVIDING FOR THE FINAL PASSAGE OF SAID ORDINANCE PURSUANT TO ARTICLE I, SECTION 9, OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That pursuant to Article I, Section 9, of the City Charter, said Ordinance No. 996, introduced to the City Council of the City of Baytown, on the 25th day of September, 1969, in its original form shall read as follows: ORDINANCE NO. 996 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 56.697 ACRES OF LAND, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS. WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, where all interested persons were provided with an opportunity to be heard on the proposed annexation of the following described property, to -wit: BEING a 56.697 acre tract of land out of the J. W. Singleton Survey A -709 and the D. M. McFadden Sur- vey A -591, Harris County, Texas and being northeast of the City of Baytown, Harris County, Texas, and being more particularly described by metes and bounds as follows: COMMENCING at the intersection of the north right - of -way line of Massey Tompkins Road and the east right -of -way line of Chaparral Drive (formerly Barkaloo Road No. 2); THENCE, in an easterly direction along the north right -of -way line of Massey Tompkins Road a dis- tance of ± 317 feet, to a point in the westerly line of the Harris County Flood Control 40 foot easement; THENCE, North 27 018155" East along the westerly line of the said Harris County Flood Control 40 foot easement a distance of 247.42 feet to a point in the north line of the Baytown city limits, said point being the POINT OF BEGINNING of the tract herein described; THENCE, North 27 018155" East, continuing along the westerly line of said Harris County Flood Control 40 foot easement a distance of 485.84 feet to a point; THENCE, North 11 013'56" West a distance of 899.70 feet to a point; THENCE, South 87 °34'00" East a distance of 663.75 feet to point in the easterly line of said Harris County Flood Control 40 foot easement; THENCE, North 27 021'03" East along the easterly line of said Harris County Flood Control 40 foot easement a distance of 743.54 feet to a point; THENCE, North 10 046'13" West a distance of 275.46 feet to a point; THENCE, in a westerly direction a distance of 186.74 feet along the arc of a curve to the North having a radius of 1,838.0 feet and a central angle of 5 049'16" to a point of tangency; THENCE,North 80 027'10" West a distance of 259.36 feet to a point; THENCE, in a Westerly direction a distance of 710.35 feet along the arc of a curve to the South having a radius of 1,938.0 feet and a central angle of 21 °00'04 ", to a point of tangency; THENCE, South 11 °30'35" East a distance of 50.00 feet to a point; THENCE, South 78 032'32" West a distance of 782.05 feet to a point in the east right -of -way of Chaparral Drive (formerly Barkaloo Road No. 2); THENCE, South 11 027'28" East along the East right - of -way line of said Chaparral Drive a distance of 1570.0 feet to a point; THENCE, North 82 058'14" East a distance of 267.03 feet to a point; THENCE, South 11 015'55" East a distance of 614.49 feet to a point in the north line of the Baytown city limits; THENCE, North 81 010137" East, with the North line of the Baytown city limits, a distance of 211.17 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING. was held at 6:30 o'clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the 11th day of September, 1969, which date is not more than twenty WAI 011011". days nor less than ten days, prior to the institution of an- nexation proceedings; and WHEREAS, notice of s,uch public hearing was published in a newspaper having general circulation in the City of Baytown, Texas, and in the above described territory on thie 28th day of August, 1969, which date is not more than twenty no,r less than ten days prior to the date of such public hearing; 1IN WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the first day of January, 1969, was 17,280 acres; and WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adja- cent to and adjoins the City of Baytown, Texas; and WHEREAS, the above described territory contains 56.697 acres; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the following described land and territory lying adjacent to and adjoining the City of Baytown, Texas, is hereby added and annexed to the City of Baytown, Texas, and the said territory hereinafter described shall hereafter be included within the boundary limits of the City D1 n2, ;&ytown, Texas, and the present boundary limits of such City, at the various points contiguous to the area hereinafter described, are altered and amended so as to include said area within the corporate limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, to-wit: M BEING a 56.697 acre tract of land out of the J. Sect,ioin 2: The above d bed territory and the area so annexed shall be a part of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the property so added hereby shall bear its pro rata part of the taxes levied by the City of Baytown, Texas, and the inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights and privileges of all the citizens and shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of the City of Baytown , Texas. Section 3: This ordinance shall be published and passed in the manner provided in Article 1, Section 9 of the Charter of the City of Baytown, Texas. INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED this 25th 1969.
