ORDINANCE NO. 995 -A
AN ORDINANCE CONTAINING ORDINANCE NO. 995, INTRO-
DUCED THE 25TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1969, AND BEING,
"AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CER-
TAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS,
AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING
OF 24.15 ACRES OF LAND, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES
ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS
OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS." PROVIDING FOR THE
FINAL PASSAGE OF SAID ORDINANCE PURSUANT TO ARTICLE
I, SECTION 9, OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That pursuant to Article I, Section 9,
of the City Charter, said Ordinance No. 995, introduced to
the City Council of the City of Baytown, on the 25th day of
September, 1969, in its original form shall read as follows:

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION
OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CER-
TAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 24.15 ACRES
OF LAND, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJA-
CENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS.
WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council
of the City of Baytown, Texas, where all interested persons
were provided with an opportunity to be heard on the pro-
posed annexation of the following described property, to -wit:
BEING a 24.15 acre tract of land out of the Christian
Smith Survey, A -69, Harris County, Texas, and being
northeast of the City of Baytown, Harris County,
Texas, and being more particularly described by
metes and bounds as follows:
COMMENCING at the intersection of the north right -
of -way line of Massey Tompkins Road and the north-
westerly right -of -way line of State Highway 146;
THENCE, South 80 030' West along the north right -
of -way line of Massey Tompkins Road a distance of
518.80 feet to a point;
THENCE, South 80 030129" West along the south line
of a 12 foot utility easement conveyed to Joe
Aylor by the Claude Tompkins Estate, Inc., a dis-
tance of 12.00 feet to a point;

THENCE, North 09 030' West along the West line of
said 12 foot easement to its intersection with
the north line of Baytown City limits, a distance
of 200.00 feet to a point, said point being the
POINT OF BEGINNING of the tract herein described;
THENCE, North 09 030' West, continuing along the
west line of said 12 foot utility easement to its
intersection with the south line of a 41.157 acre
tract of land previously conveyed to Joe Aylor,
et al by Claude Tompkins a distance of 140.00 feet
to a point;
THENCE, North 80 030'29" east along the south line
of said 41.157 acre tract a distance of 74.42 feet
to a point;
THENCE, North 09 029'31" West with the east line of
the tract herein described, said line also being
the east line of said 41.157 acre tract, a dis-
tance of 508.80 feet to a point;
THENCE, North 12 028'22" East with the east line of
the tract herein described said line also being
the east line of said 41.157 acre tract, a distance
of 321.95 feet to a point in the south bank of
Careys Bayou for the Northeast corner of the tract
herein described;
THENCE, South 81 010'42" West with the north line
of the Aylor 41.157 acre tract and the south bank
of Careys Bayou, a distance of 101.78 feet to a
point;
THENCE, North 71 037115" West continuing with the
north line of the Aylor 41.147 acre tract and the
south bank of Careys Bayou, a distance of 96.31
feet to a point; said point being the most south-
easterly corner of a 19.982 acre tract owned by
the same Joe Aylor;
THENCE, North 70 010'45" West, with the north line
of the Aylor 19.982 acre tract, a distance of 95.0
feet to a point in the centerline of Careys Bayou;
THENCE, with the north line of the Aylor 19.982
acre tract, also being the centerline meanders of
Careys Bayou as follows:

in the south line of the previously mentioned 41.157

WAS HELD AT 6:30 o'clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber of
the City Hall of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the 11th day of
September, 1969, which date is not more than twenty (20) days
nor less than ten (10) days, prior to the institution of an-
nexation proceedings; and
WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published
in a newspaper having general circulation in the City of
Baytown, Texas, and in the above described territory on the
27th day of August, 1969, which date is not more than twenty
nor less than ten days prior to the date of such public
hearing; and
WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of
Baytown, Texas, on the first day of January, 1969, was 17,280
acres; and
WHEREAS, the population of the City of Baytown,
Texas, is 45,841 inhabitants; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within
the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Baytown,
Texas; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adja-
cent to and adjoins the City of Baytown, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory contains
24.15 acres; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:

Section 1: That the following described land and'
territory lying adjacent to and adjoining the City of Baytown,
Texas, is hereby added and annexed to the City of Baytown,
Texas, and the said territory hereinafter described shall
hereafter be included within the boundary limits of the City
of Baytown, Texas, and the present boundary limits of such
City, at the various points contiguous to the area herein-
after described, are altered and amended so as to include
said area within the corporate limits of the City of Baytown,
Texas, to -wit:
BEING a 24.15 acre tract of land out of the Christian

northeast of the City of Baytown, Harris County, Texas,
and being more particularly described by metes and
bounds as follows:

the tract herein described, said line also being the
east line of said 41.157 acre tract, a distance of
508.80 feet to a point;
THENCE, North 12 °28'22" East with the east line of
the tract herein described said line also being the
east line of said 41.157 acre tract, a distance of
321.95 feet to a point in the south bank of Careys
Bayou for the northeast corner of the tract herein
described;

of the Aylor 41.157 acre tract and the south bank
of Careys Bayou, a distance of 101.78 feet to a
point;
THENCE, North 71 037'15" West continuing with the
north line of the Aylor 41.157 acre tract and the
south bank of Careys Bayou, a distance of 96.31
feet to a point; said point being the most south-
easterly corner of a 19.982 acre tract owned by
the same Joe Aylor;
THENCE, North 70 010'45" West, with the north line
of the Aylor 19.982 acre tract, a distance of
95.0 feet to a point in the centerline of Careys
Bayou;
THENCE, with the north line of the Aylor 19.982

of 14.42 feet to a point;
THENCE, South 09 °30' West a distance of 140.00
feet to a point in the North line of the Baytown
City limits;
THENCE, North 80 030129" East with the north line
of the Baytown City limits a distance of 900.00
feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
Section 2: The above described territory and
the area so annexed shall be a part of the City of Baytown,
Texas, and the property so added hereby shall bear its pro
rata part of the taxes levied by the City of Baytown, Texas,
and the inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the
rights and privileges of all the citizens and shall be bound

by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of the
City of Baytown, Texas.
Section 3: This ordinance shall be published and
passed in the manner provided in Article 1, Section 9 of
the Charter of the City of Baytown, Texas.
