AN ORDINANCE CONTAINING ORDINANCE NO. 975, INTRO-
DUCED THE 7TH DAY OF MAY, 1969, AND BEING, "AN
ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN
BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS,
AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING
OF 8.24 ACRES OF LAND, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES
ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS
OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS." PROVIDING FOR THE
FINAL PASSAGE OF SAID ORDINANCE PURSUANT TO ARTICLE
I. SECTION 9, OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That pursuant to Article I, Section 9,
of the City Charter, said Ordinance No. 975, introduced to
the City Council of the City of Baytown, on the 7th day of
May, 1969, in its original form shall read as follows:
ORDINANCE NO. 975
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN
BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND
THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF
8.24 ACRES OF LAND, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJA-
CENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF
THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS.
WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council
of the City of Baytown, Texas, where all interested persons
were provided with an opportunity to be heard on the proposed
annexation of the following described property, to -wit:
BEGINNING at a point on the existing City limit line
of the City of Baytown, said point being more fully
described as being on the West bank line of Cedar
Bayou at a distance of 10 feet North of the South
right of way line of State Highway No. 73 (Inter-
state Highway 10);
THENCE, in a generally Northwesterly direction, fol-
lowing the meanders of the West bank of Cedar Bayou,
to a point of intersection with the South right of
way line of State Farm Market Highway No. 1942; and
then continuing in a Northerly direction approximately
10 feet to a point for corner, said point being on
the West bank line of Cedar Bayou at a distance 10
feet perpendicular from the South right of way line
of State Farm Market Highway No. 1942;
THENCE, in an Easterly direction approximately 10
feet to a point for corner, said point being 10
feet perpendicularly from the West bank line of
Cedar Bayou;
THENCE, in a generally Southeasterly direction, 10
feet from and parallel to the meanderings of the
West bank line of Cedar Bayou, to a point 10 feet
from the South right of way line of State Highway
No. 73 (Interstate Highway 10);
THENCE, in a Southwesterly direction, 10 feet from
and parallel to the South right of way line of
State Highway No. 73 (Interstate Highway 10), a
distance of approximately 10 feet to the POINT OF
BEGINNING.
BEING a strip of land 10 feet wide and approximately
35,900 feet long, containing approximately 8.24 acres.
was held at 7:00 o'clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber of
the City Hall of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the 24th day
of April, 1969, which date is not more than twenty days nor
less than ten days, prior to the institution of annexation
proceedings; and
WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published
in a newspaper having general circulation in the City of
Baytown, Texas, and in the above described territory on the
7th day of April, 1969, which date is not more than twenty
nor less than ten days prior to the date of such publ i c hear-
ing; and
WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of
Baytown, Texas, on the first day of January, 1969, was 17,280
acres; and
WHEREAS, the population of the City of Baytown,
Texas, is 45,841 inhabitants; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within
the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Baytown,
Texas; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent
to and adjoins the City of Baytown, Texas; and

WHEREAS, the above described territory contains
8.24 acres; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the following described land and
territory lying adjacent to and adjoining the City of Baytown,
Texas, is hereby added and annexed to the City of Baytown,
Texas, and the said territory hereinafter described shall
hereafter be included within the boundary limits of the City
of Baytown, Texas, and the present boundary limits of such
City, at the various points contiguous to the area herein-
after described, are altered and amended so as to include
said area within the corporate limits of the City of Baytown,
Texas, to -wit:
BEGINNING at a point on the existing City limit
line of the City of Baytown, said point being
more fully described as being on the West bank
line of Cedar Bayou at a distance of 10 feet
North of the South right of way line of State
Highway No. 73 (Interstate Highway 10);
THENCE, in a generally Northwesterly direction,
following the meanders of the West bank of Cedar
Bayou, to a point of intersection with the South
right of way line of State Farm Market Highway
No. 1942; and then continuing in a Northerly
direction approximately 10 feet to a point for
corner, said point being on the West bank line
of Cedar Bayou at a distance 10 feet perpendi-
cular from the South right of way line of State

THENCE, in an Easterly direction approximately
10 feet to a point for corner, said point being
10 feet perpendicularly from the West bank line
of Cedar Bayou;
THENCE, in a generally Southeasterly direction,
10 feet from and parallel to the meanderi ngs of
the West bank line of Cedar Bayou, to a point
10 feet from the South right of way line of
State Highway No. 73 (Interstate Highway 10);
THENCE, in a Southwesterly direction, 10 feet
from and parallel to the South right of way line
of State Highway No. 73 (Interstate Highway 10),
a distance of approximately 10 feet to the POINT
OF BEGINNING.
BEING a strip of land 10 feet wide and approximately
35,900 feet long, containing approximately 8.24 acres.

Section 2: The above described territory and the
area so annexed shall be a part of the City of Baytown, Texas,
and the property so added hereby shall bear its pro rata part
of the taxes levied by the City of Baytown, Texas, and the
inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights
and privileges of all the citizens and shall be bound by the
acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of the City of
Baytown, Texas.
Section 3: This ordinance shall be published and
passed in the manner provided in Article 1, Section 9 of
the Charter of the City of Baytown, Texas.
