AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AMENDING
SECTION 18 -99 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, CAPTIONED
"MAXIMUM LIMITS NEAR SCHOOLS, CHURCHES AND HOSPITALS "; CONTAINING S
SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE OF
THIS ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That Section 18 -99 of the Code of Ordinances of Baytown, Texas,
captioned "Maximum Limits Near Schools, Churches and Hospitals" is hereby amended
and as amended shall read as follows:
"The maximum speed limit within the same block of any school, church or
hospital shall be twenty (20) miles per hour, and, when signes are erected
as provided in section 18 -101, it shall be unlawful for any person to
drive any vehicle at a speed greater than such limit."
Section 2: Repealing_ Clause: All ordinances or parts of ordinances incon-
sistent or in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance shall be and the same
are hereby repealed.
Section 3: Savings Clause: In the event any section, sub - section, sentence,
clause or phrase of this ordinance shall be declared or adjudged invalid or uncon-
stitutional, such adjudication shall be in no means affect any other section, sub-
section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, but all the rest thereof
shall be in full force and effect as though the section, sub- section, clause or
phrase so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional was not originally a part
thereof.
Section 4: Effective Date: This ordinance shall take effect from and after
its passage by the City Council. The City Clerk is hereby directed to give notice
hereof by causing the caption of this ordinance to be published in the official
newspaper of the City of Baytown at least twice within ten (10) days after the
passage of this ordinance.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of a majority of the members
of the City Council of the City of Baytown, this the 11th day of January, 1968.
