AN ORDINANCE CONTAINING ORDINANCE NO. 898, INTRODUCED THE 26TH DAY OF
OCTOBER, 1967, AND BEING, "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF
CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXA-
TION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 3.8465 ACRES OF LAND, WHICH SAID
TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF
THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS." PROVIDING FOR THE FINAL PASSAGE OF SAID
ORDINANCE PURSUANT TO ARTICLE I, SECTION 9, OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY
OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That pursuant to Article I, Section 9, of the City Charter,
said Ordinance No. 898, introduced to the City Council of the City of Baytown, on
the 26th day of October, 1967, in its original form shall read as follows:

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF
THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY
CONSISTING OF 3.8465 ACRES OF LAND, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT
TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS.
WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council of the City of Baytown,
Texas, where all interested persons were provided with an opportunity to be heard
on the proposed annexation of the following described property, to -wit:
BEGINNING at a point on the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown,
Harris County, Texas, said point being more fully described as being on the
South line of the Harvey Whiting Survey and South 89 degrees 30 minutes West
a distance of 153.60 feet from the intersection of the same South line of
the Harvey Whiting Survey and the West line of the Houston North Shore Rail-
road right -of -way;
THENCE, North 11 degrees 56 minutes East a distance of 102.40 feet to the
corner of a 15.91 acre tract occupied by the Marbon Company, said corner
being the Southeast corner of the 15.91 acre tract;
THENCE, continuing North 11 degrees 56 minutes East a distance of 119.98
feet to a point for corner;
THENCE, South 89 degrees 30 minutes West a distance of 1,432.77 feet to a
point for corner on the West line of the 15.91 acre tract;
THENCE, South 0 degrees 30 minutes East a distance of 117.17 feet to a point
for corner on the South line of the 15.91 acre tract;
THENCE, North 89 degrees 30 minutes East a distance of 1,396.70 feet along
the South line of the 15.91 acre tract to a point for corner;
THENCE, South 11 degrees 56 minutes West a distance of 102.40 feet to a point
for corner on the South line of the Harvey Whiting Survey;
THENCE, North 89 degrees 30 minutes East a distance of 10.24 feet along the
South line of the Harvey Whiting Survey to the POINT OF BEGINNING, being a
tract containing 3.819 acres of the Marbon Company 15.91 acre tract and
0.0275 acres of the Humble Oil & Refining Company and Humble Pipe Line Company
property.
was held at 6:30 o'clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall of the
City of Baytown, Texas, on the 12th day of October, 1967, which date is not more
than twenty days nor less than ten days prior to the institution of annexation
proceedings; and
WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in a newspaper having
general circulation in the City of Baytown, Texas, and in the above described terri-
tory on the 3rd day of October, 1967, which date is not more than twenty nor less
than ten days prior to the date of such public hearing; and
WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the
first day of January, 1966, was 15,169.85 acres; and
WHEREAS, the population of the City of Baytown, Texas, is 34,423 inhabi-
tants; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the extraterritorial
jurisdiction of the City of Baytown, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to and adjoins the
City of Baytown, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory contains 3.8465 acres; NOW, THERE-
FORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the following described land and territory lying adjacent
to and adjoining the City of Baytown, Texas, is hereby added and annexed to the
City of Baytown, Texas, and the said territory hereinafter described shall hereafter
be included within the boundary limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the pre-
sent boundary limits of such City, at the various points contiguous to the area
hereinafter described, are altered and amended so as to include said area within
the corporate limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, to -wit:
BEGINNING at a point on the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown,
Harris County, Texas, said point being more fully described as being on the
South line of the Harvey Whiting Survey and South 89 degrees 30 minutes West

Section 2: The above described territory and the area so annexed shall
be a part of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the property so added hereby shall
bear its pro rata part of the taxes levied by the City of Baytown, Texas, and the
inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights and privileges of all
the citizens and shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations
of the City of Baytown, Texas.
Section 3: This ordinance shall be published and passed in the manner
provided in Article I, Section 9 of the Charter of the City of Baytown, Texas.
