ORDINANCE NO. 856
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE, "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, TO BE KNOWN AS THE "TRAFFIC CODE OF THE CITY
OF BAYTOWN "; REGULATING TRAFFIC ON THE PUBLIC STREETS OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN; WORDS AND PHRASES DEFINED; AUTHORITY OF POLICE; DRIVING REGULA-
TIONS- SPEED; DRIVING REGULATIONS -RULES OF THE ROAD; TURNING AND STARTING
AND SIGNALS ON STOPPING AND TURNING; ACCIDENTS, RECKLESS DRIVING, START-
ING PARKED VEHICLES; TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN SIGNALS; PEDESTRIANS, RIGHTS
AND DUTIES; PARKING REGULATIONS; SPECIAL STOPS REQUIRED; MISCELLANEOUS
DRIVING RULES; REPEALING ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH; CONTAINING A
SAVINGS CLAUSE; PRESCRIBING A MAXIMUM PENALTY OF TWO HUNDRED ($200.00)
DOLLARS; AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF."
BEING ORDINANCE NO. 752, PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN
ON THE 26TH DAY OF AUGUST, 1965, BY ADDING NO. 16 TO SECTION 22(b) OF
ARTICLE III - DRIVING REGULATIONS - SPEED, AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICA-
TION AND EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That No. 16 shall be added to Section 22(b) of Article III -
Driving Regulations - Speed, and shall read as follows, to -wit:
(b) 40 Miles Per Hour Speed Zones
16. West Main Street: From Yupon Street to Spur 201 (Douglas Drive).
Section 2: That except as herein amended, all the terms and provisions
of said Ordinance No. 752, passed by the City Council of the City of Baytown on the
26th day of August, 1965, are hereby continued in full force and effect and any
person violating any of the terms of the ordinance shall be subject to the penalties
provided therein.
Section 3: Effective Date: This ordinance shall take effect from and
after ten (10) days from its passage by the City Council. The City Clerk is hereby
directed to give notice hereof by causing the caption of this ordinance to be
published in the official newspaper of the City of Baytown at least twice prior to
the effective date thereof.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by a majority of the City Council of the City
of Baytown, on this the 9th day of February, 1967.
