Ordinance No. 840ORDINANCE NO. 840 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 1.5588 ACRES OF LAND, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS. WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, where all interested persons were provided with an opportunity to be heard on the proposed annexation of the following described territory, to -wit: BEGINNING at a point on the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown, said point being more fully described as being the intersection of the center line of San Jacinto Avenue in the Humble Oil & Refining Company property and the South right -of -way line of the Wooster -Cedar Bayou Road; THENCE, South 86 deg. 13 min. West a distance of 61.87 feet along the South right -of -way line of the Wooster -Cedar Bayou Road to a point, said point being the intersection of the East property line of the Consolidated Chemical property and the South right -of -way line of the Wooster -Cedar Bayou Road; THENCE, South 32 deg. 18 min. West along the East property line of the Consolidated Chemical property, fifty feet from and parallel to the center line of San Jacinto Avenue, a distance of 703.52 feet to a point for corner; THENCE, North 57 deg. 42 min. West along the Southwesterly property line of the Consolidated Chemical property a distance of 101.89 feet to a point for corner; THENCE, North 32 deg. 18 min. East a distance of 629.26 feet to a point on the South right -of -way line of the Wooster -Cedar Bayou Road, and continuing on the same course a distance of 12.37 feet to a point for corner, said point being ten feet perpendicularly from the South right -of -way line of the Wooster -Cedar Bayou Road; THENCE, North 86 deg. 13 min. East, ten feet from and parallel to the South right -of -way line of the Wooster -Cedar Bayou Road a distance of 187.95 feet to a point for corner on the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown; THENCE, South 32 deg. 18 min. West along the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown a distance of 12.37 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING. Being a tract of land containing 1.99 acres, of which 1.5588 acres is the property of Consolidated Chemical Division of Stauffer Chemical Company. was held at 6:30 o'clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the 27th day of October, 1966, which date is not more than twenty days nor less than ten days prior to the institution of annexation proceedings; and WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in a newspaper having general circulation in the City of Baytown, Texas, and in the above described territory on the 16th day of October, 1966, which date is not more than twenty nor less than ten days prior to the date of such public hearing; and WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the first day of January, 1966, was 15,169.85 acres; and WHEREAS, the population of the City of Baytown, Texas, is 34,423 inhabitants; and WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Baytown, Texas; and WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to and adjoins the City of Baytown, Texas; and WHEREAS, the above described territory contains 4.8 acres; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: The following described land and territory lying adjacent to and adjoining the City of Baytown, Texas, is hereby added and annexed to the City of Baytown, Texas, and the said territory hereinafter described shall here- after be included within the boundary limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the present boundary limits of such City, at the various points contiguous to the area hereinafter described, are altered and amended so as to include said area within the corporate limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, to -wit: BEGINNING at a point on the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown, said point being more fully described as being the intersection of the center line of San Jacinto Avenue in the Humble Oil & Refining Company property and the South right -of -way line of the Wooster -Cedar Bayou Road-, THENCE, South 86 deg. 13 min. Section 2: The above described territory and the area so annexed shall be a part of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the property so added hereby shall bear its pro rata part of the taxes levied by the City of Baytown, Texas, and the inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights and privileges of all the citizens and shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of the City of Baytown, Texas. Section 3: This ordinance shall be published and passed in the manner provided in Article 1, Section 9 of the Charter of the City of Baytown, Texas.
