Ordinance No. 841ORDINANCE NO. 841 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BA`LTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 72.64 ACRES OF LAND, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS. WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, where all interested persons were provided with an opportunity to be heard on the proposed annexation of the following described territory, to -wit; BEGINNING at a point on the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown, said point being more fully described as the point of intersection of the South right -of -way line of Baker Road and the Easterly right -of -way line of the Missouri Pacific Railroad; THENCE, Easterly along the South right -of -way line of Baker Road to the Southwest right -of -way line of State Highway Spur 330 (Decker Drive); THENCE, Southeasterly along the Southwest right -of -way line of State High- way Spur 330 to a point of intersection with the North line of the Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation's 18.62 acre tract annexed December 8, 1960; THENCE, Westerly along the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown to a point on the Westerly property line of the Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation property; THENCE, in a Northeasterly, North and Northwesterly direction along the Westerly property line of the Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation prop- erty, the %me being the Easterly and Northeasterly line of the East Canal of the San Jacinto River Project, to a point of intersection with the Easterly right -of -way line of the Missouri Pacific Railroad; THENCE, in a Northeasterly direction along the Easterly right -of -way line of the Missouri Pacific Railroad, being also the Westerly property line of the Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation property, to a point of inter- section with the South right -of -way line of Baker Road, the same being the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown and the POINT OF BEGINNING. was held at 6;30 o'clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the 27th day of October, 1966, which date is not more tsa, . twenty days nor less than ten days prior to the institution of annexation proceedings; and WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in a newspaper having general circulation in the City of Baytown, Texas, and in the above described territory on the 16th day of October, 1966, which date is not more than twenty nor less than ten days prior to the date of such public hearing; and WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the first day of January, 1966, was 15,169.85 acres; and WHEREAS, the population of the City of Baytown, Texas, is 34,423 inhabitants; and WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Baytown, Texas; and WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to and adjoins the City of Baytown, Texas; and WHEREAS, the above described territory contains 72.64 acres; NOW, THEREFORE, BEIIT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section l: The following described land and territory lying adjacent to and adjoining the City of Baytown, Texas, is hereby added and annexed to the City of Baytown, Texas, and the said territory hereinafter described shall here- after be included within the boundary limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the present boundary limits of such City, at the various points contiguous to the area hereinafter described, are altered and amended so as to include said area within the corporate limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, to -wit: BEGINNING at a point on the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown, said point being more fully described as the point of intersection of the South right -of -way line of Baker Road and the Easterly right -of -way line of the Missouri Pacific Railroad; THENCE, Easterly along the South right -of -way line of Baker Road to the Southwest right -of -way line of State Highway Spur 330 (Decker Drive); THENCE, Southeasterly along the Southwest right -of -way line of State High- way Spur 330 to a point of intersection with the North line of the Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation's 18.62 acre tract annexed December 8, 1960; THENCE, Westerly along the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown to a point on the Westerly property line of the Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation property; THENCE, in a Northeasterly, North and Northwesterly direction along the Westerly property line of the Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation prop- erty, the same being the Easterly and Northeasterly line of the East Canal of the San Jacinto River Project, to a point of intersection with the Easterly right -of -way line of the Missouri Pacific Railroad; THENCE, in a Northeasterly direction along the Easterly right -of -way line of the Missouri Pacific Railroad, being also the Westerly property line of the Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation property, to a point of inter- section with the South right -of -way line of Baker Road, the same being the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown and the POINT OF BEGINNING. Section 2: The above described territory and the area so annexed shall be a part of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the property so added hereby shall bear its pro rata part of the taxes levied by the City of Baytown, Texas, and the inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights and privileges of all the citizens and shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regula- tions of the City of Baytown, Texas. I Section 3: Thos ordinance shall be published and passed in the manner provided in Article 1, Section 9 of the Charter of the City of Baytown, Texas.
