EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF ", BEING ORDINANCE NO. 643, PASSED BY
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN ON THE 11TH DAY OF
JANUARY, 1952, BY AISiENDING SECTION 11, SUBSECTION (i) THEREOF,
PERTAINING TO JOINT SPECIFICATIONS; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE,
REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR
VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION
AND EFFECTIVE DATE: THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOi`fAl:
Section 1: That Section 11, Subsection (i) of said Ordinance
No. 643, shall be amended as follows:
Section 11: Pipestobe_Sound:
(i) Joints in Cast Iron Pipes: All joints in cast iron
soilwaste or drainpipes shall be filled with packed
oakum and molten lead and hand closed and calked as
to make them air - tight. The quantity of lead used
for each joint shall be not less than twelve ounces
of fine soft lead for each inch in diameter of the
pipe, or
A compression type push -in gasket, compounded of
neoprene material especially designed and tested for
this application, having two (2) perfect seals between
hub and spigot. These seals to be used on one -story
buildings only.
Section 2: Savings Clause: If any provision, exception, sec-
tion, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordin-
ance or the application of same to any person or set of circumstances,
shall for any reason be held unconstitutional, void or invalid, such
invalidity shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions
of this ordinance or their application to other persons or sets of cir-
cumstances and, to this end, all provisions of this ordinance are de-
clared to be severable.
Section 3: Repealing Clause: All ordinances or parts of "ordin-
ances inconsistent with the terms of this ordinance are hereby repealed;
provided, however, that such repeal shall be only to the extent of such
inconsistency and in all other respects this ordinance shall be cumula-
tive of other ordinances regulating and governing the subject matter
covered by this ordinance.

Section 4: Penalty: Any person, firm or corporation violating
any provision of this ordinance or failing to observe any provision
hereof shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction,
shall be fined in any sum not less than One (:x1.00) Dollar nor more
than Two Hundred 0 200.00) Dollars, and each and every day or fraction
thereof which this ordinance, or any part thereof, shall be violated,
shall be deemed a separate offense and punishable as such.
Section 5: Effective Date: This ordinance shall take effect
from and after ten 10 days from its passage by the City Council.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to give notice hereof by causing the
caption of this ordinance to be published in the official newspaper of
the City of Baytown at least twice within ten (10) days after the
passage of this ordinance.
