Ordinance No. 747El AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS ANa DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE BOND ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF BAYTOWN ON THE 6th DAY OF MARCH, 1965, CONTAIN- ING OTHER PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAPE EFFECT FRO4, AND AFTER ITS ADOPTION THE STATE OF TS(AS I COUNTY OF HARRIS I The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, convened in special session at the City Hall within said City on the 17th day of fKarch, 1965, with the following members present, to -wi t: J. C. Huron Mayor, Pro Tem Kenneth E. Badgett Councilman Seaborn Cravey Councilman M. E. Lively Councilman Edna Oliver City Clerk and the following members absent, to -wit: C. L. Liggett Mayor J. R. Barnes Councilman David C. Clark Councilman when, among other business, the following was transacted: The Mayor introduced an ordinance which was read in full. Councilman Badgett made a motion that the ordinance be adopted as read. Councilman Lively seconded the motion for adoption of the ordinance. The motion, carrying with it the adoption of the ordinance, prevailed by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Badgett, Cravey, Lively, Mayor Pro Tem Huron NOES: None The Mayor thereupon announced that the ordinance had been duly and lawfully adopted. The ordinance thus adopted follows: ORDINANCE NO. 741 AN ORDINANCE ORDERING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE H4:LD ON THE 1ST DAY OF lilAY, 1965, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A COUNCILi:!AN FROM DISTRICT NO. 3, AND A COUNCILMAN FROIL DISTRICT NO. 6, PROVIDING FOR ELEC- TION OFFICERS, DESIGNATING THE PLACES AND i,"NNER OF HOLDING SAID .ELECTION; PRESCRIBING THE HOURS AND PROVIDING FOR THE POSTING AND PUBLICATION OF NOTICE:. i,MEREAS, on the 6th day of April, the Regular iaiunicipal Election of the City of Baytown was held in said City for the pur- pose of electing three Councilmen from the respective Districts Nos. 2, 3 and 6, and a i -:ayor from the City at large, and the re- turns of said Election having been duly made by the Election Of- ficials and the City Council having canvassed said returns and determined the results of said Election on this the 14th day of April, 1965; and JHEREAS, it is determined from the canvassing of said re- turns that no candidate for Councilman from District No. 3, and no candidate for Councilman from District No. 6, received a major- ity of the votes cast at the Regular Election for the office for which he was a candidate and, accordingly, pursuant to Section 94, Article IX of the Charter of the City of Baytown, it is the duty of the City Council to order a Special Election for the purpose of submitting to a vote of the qualified voters of said City, the names of the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes at the Regular Election for the office of Councilman from District No. 3 and for the office of Councilman from District No. 6, in or- der that the voters may designate and elect one of the two candi- dates from said District No. 3 and from said District No. 6; and WHEREAS, as set out in the Resolution this day passed by the City Council of the City of Baytown, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes for said offices are as follows: District No. 3 Kenneth L. Donnell NOJ, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THL CITY OF BAYTO;TW: Section 1: That a Special Llection of the City of Baytown, as provided in Section 94, :article IX of the Charter of said City, shall be held between the hours of 7:00 o'clock a.m. and 7:00 o'clock p.m. on the lst day of Lay, 1965, in said City for the purpose of electing a Councilman from District No. 3 and a Councilman from District No. 6, from the Candidates listed as follows: For Councilman From District No. 3 Kenneth E.
