PEALING ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREI`.ITH, CONTAINING
A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND
EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN:
Section 1: That Fritz Lanham, City Manager, is hereby author-
ized, on behalf of the City of Baytown, to execute and enter into
all necessary or supplementary or amendatory agreements with the
State Department of Public Welfare for the purpose of extending to
and including social security coverage for all policemen and firemen
of the City of Baytown.
Section 2: That the Director of Finance, J. B. LeFevre, is
hereby directed to make such assessments, collections, payments and
reports as may be required by the State Department of Public ZJelfare
to provide social security coverage for all policemen and firemen of
the amity of Baytown.
Section 3: That a sufficient sum of money be allocated and
set aside from available funds for the purpose of providing social
security coverage for all policemen and firemen of the City of Bay-
town, such money so allocated and set aside to be known as a part of
the City of Baytown's Social Security Fund, which shall be set aside
and maintained in the regular City depository.
Section 4: Repealing Clause: All ordinances or parts of ordin-
ances inconsistent with the terms of this ordinance are hereby re-
pealed; provided, however, that such repeal shall be only to the ex-
tent of such inconsistency, and in all other respects this ordinance
shall be cumulative of other ordinances regulating and governing the
subject matter covered by this ordinance.
Section 5: Savings Clause: If any provision, exception, sec-
tion, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordin-
ance or the application of same to any person or set of circumstances
shall for any reason be held unconstitutional, void or invalid, such
invalidity shall not effect the validity of the remaining provisions
of this ordinance or their application to other persons or sets of
circumstances and to this end, all provisions of this ordinance are
declared to be severable.
Section b: Effective Date: This ordinance shall take effect
from and after ten 10 days from its passage by the City Council.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to give notice hereof by causing the
caption of this ordinance
