Ordinance No. 53230INAMC E HC, 532 ® AN CRD INANGE�^ "R I['?G A JAL °,LECT ICN TO BE HELD CM THE -- AY '?F 1959, FOR THE ?UR- POSE CF E'LECY IM A COUNCILS �N MOD DISTRICT NUN - BER 31 AND A rQAYOR FROf-i THE CITY AT LARGE; 11E,'- V ID Irk'G FOR ELECT ION CFF ICERS, DESIGNAT IM, THE PLACES AM rIANNER CF HOLD IR'G SAID ELECTION; PTiE- SCRIB MIG THE HOURS AND PROV ID II:'G FCR THE : CST ING E:ND PLBL ICAT ION CF NOTICE. • WHEREAS, on the 7th day of April, 1959, the regular Ounicipal Election of the City of Baytown was held in said City for the purpose of electing three Councilman from the respective Districts Nos. 2, 3 and 6, and a Mayor from the City at large, and the returns of said election having been duly made by the election officials and the City Council having canvassed said returns and de- termined the results of said election on this the 15th day of April, 1959, and I'MERREAS, it is determined from the canvassing of said returns that no candidate for Councilman from District No. 3, and for Mayor from the City at large received a majority of the votes cast at the regular election for the office for which he was a candidate, and accordingly, pursuant to Section 99 of Article IX of the Charter of the City of Baytown, it is the duty of the City Council to order a special election for the purpose of submitting to,a vote of the qualified voters of said City, the names of the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes at the regular election for the office of Council- man from District No. 3, and for Nayor from the City at large, in order that the voters may designate and elect one of the two candidates from said District .'No. 3, and from the City at large, as Councilman and C"syor, respectively, and PIIICREAS, as set out in the resolution this day passed by the City Council of the City of Baytown, the two candidates receiving the highest num- ber of votes for said offices are as follows: District No. 3 James W. (Slue) Massey NoW , THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY T1E CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DAYTOIM : Section 1: That a Special Election of the City of Baytown, As provided in Section 99, Article D; of the Charter of said City, shall be held between the hours of 7 :00 o'clock a.m. and 7 :00 o'clock p.m, on the god day of i1,1959, in said City for the purpose of electing a Councilman from District No. 3 and Mayor from the City at large from the candidates listed as follows: For Councilman from District No. 3: James IkI.
