• AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN , ACTING
FOR AND ON BEHALF OF SAID CITY TO ENTER INTO ALL NECESSARY AGREEMENTS IVITH
THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC TUFARE RELATIVE TO FEDERAL QLD -AGE ANO SUR-
VIVORS INSURANCE BENEFITS UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF APPLICABLE STATE AND FED-
ERAL LAZE; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE ALL SAID NECESSARY AGREEMENTS
AND INSTRUMENTS FOR AND ON BEHALF OF SAID CITY COUNCIL AND CITY; DIRECTING
THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO MAKE ASSESSMENTS, COLLECTIONS, AND REPORTS; AND OR-
DERING THE ALLACATION AND SETTING ASIDE OF SUFFICIENT MONEY FROM AVAILABLE
FUNDS TO CARRY OUT THE PROVISIONS OF SAID LAPS, SUCH MONEY TO BE SET ASIDE
AND MAINTAINED IN THE REGULAR CITY DEPOSITORY AND TO BE KNOWN AS THE CITY
OF BAYTOWN SOCIAL SECURITY FUND.
AMEREAS, under the provisions of (1) House Bill 603, Acts 52nd Leg., R. S. 1951,
and (2) Public Law 734, 81st Congress, ch. 609, 2d., H.E. 6000, incorporated cities
of this State may enter into agreements with the State Department of Public,.Welfare
and secure the benefits of Federal Old -Age and Survivors Insurance, as outlined in
said lays; and
9HFJ1EAS, it is the opinion of this City Council that the extension of this Old -
Age and Survivors Insurance System will be of great benefit not only to the employees
of the municipality but to the municipality by attracting to it and enabling it to
retain the best of personnel and thus increase the efficiency of its government; and
It is deemed that the payment by the municipality of its portion of the cost of said
system is a payment for municipal purposes.
T-.HMEAS, it is the desire of this City Council to authorize the making of any
and all necessary agreements in order to secure the benefits of said acts; therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOI'iN, TEAS:
1. That the City Council, acting for and on behalf of the City of Baytown,
• Texas, shall enter into all necessary agreements.with the State Department of Public
Welfare for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of the abovementioned acts.
2. That Hoa. R. H. Pruett, Mayor, is hereby appointed as Agent of the City
Council and of the City to execute all necessary agreements and instruments for and
in behalf of said City Council and City.
3. That the Director of Finance is hereby directed to be the person respon-
sible for making assessments, collections,payments, and reports, as required by the
State Department of Public Welfare.
4. That a sufficient sum of money be allocated and set aside from available
funds for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of the abovementioned acts,
0 such money so allocated and set aside to be known as the City of Baytown Social
Secutiry Fund, which fund shall be set aside and maintained in the regular city
depository.
